Mitre Mining has agreed to acquire 100% of the Cerro Bayo Silver-Gold Project in Chile. The acquisition transforms Mitre into a significant silver-gold exploration company with Cerro Bayo’s existing JORC 2012 Inferred Resource Estimate standing at 3.82Mt at a grade of 206g/t Ag Eq for 24.7Moz of contained AgEq, with significant scope for short term Resource growth potential. Cerro Bayo also includes the 500,000tpa Cerro Bayo flotation plant and mining infrastructure, existing mineral resources and +300km2 mining claim package, previously operated by Equus Mining (ASX: EQE). Our Executive Director Ray Shorrocks said: “The Cerro Bayo acquisition is an exceptional company-making opportunity for Mitre because it comes with a significant Resource, huge scope for rapid Resource growth and the option of near-term production thanks to the existing plant and infrastructure. “The infrastructure alone has a replacement value of more than $150m. And in addition to the significant Resource, there is abundant known mineralisation which will help underpin rapid Resource growth and immense district-scale potential. Celsius Resources Limited (ASX:CLA, AIM:CLA), the mining group, said it has received approval for a permit from the Philippine government for its flagship project. The Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources approved a permit application for the Maalinao-Caigutan-Biyog Mining Project on March 15 2024. Such a permit provides Celsius subsidiary Makilala Mining Company (MMC) exclusive rights to undertake rational exploration, development and commercial production of copper and associated minerals for the next 25 years, with an option to renew this for an additional quarter of a century. It also allows Celsius to undertake the necessary work streams to undergo development of the mines. MMC’s permit approval represents the first copper project to be approved by the Philippine government in the last 15 years. The Future of Mining Summit 2024. I was privileged and honored to represent my company, AMS- Perenti at the inaugural Future of Mining Summit 2024 Gaborone, under the theme “Building Competitive Global Players Of Evolving Industrial Challenge” The summit created a platform for key players in the mining industry to share ideas, collaborate, and exchange notes on pertinent industry issues. It was a converging point for mining industry captains, high-level government officials, policymakers, extractive industry thought leaders, investors, and ESG stakeholders to shape and chart a new path for the industry. The highly impactful engagements comprised of strategic keynote presentations, technical insights, and panel discussions on various topics throughout the two days. The Future of Mining Summit provided insights into the outlook of mining in Botswana and globally, future operational and business models, new technologies in mining, energy transition, safety and productivity, ESG, and the creation of new and safer jobs in the mining industry. The summit also discussed investments in exploration, discovery, project developments, and the building of new mines and expanding existing operations.
