We were in my hometown on this horrific day - 6 years ago. We had worshipped in this synagogue at bar mitzvahs. Any of us could have been there that day. Today in Pittsburgh, people of all faiths join together, through service and volunteering, to remember the eleven people who were senselessly murdered. We all stand in solidarity with the survivors, the families of those who were killed, and all those who have been impacted by this act of hate-motivated violence.

One of the reasons why we do what we do at Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble This indeed made our day! To know more about us, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/dkejemAh
A simple and beautiful example as to why communities are important 👇🏻 A new parent in our Sirat - The Cleft Warriors Ensemble community recently shared that their unborn baby will have a cleft lip and palate. With support and determination, they’ve chosen to embrace the journey ahead. I was glad to see this message in the morning, it's an affirmation of the message we're trying to convey about Sirat and what people can expect. Sirat exists to ensure that families facing cleft know they're not alone. We connect parents with a supportive network, expert advice, and resources to navigate this path together. Help us reach more families—contribute here or share this post to spread the word. Contribute to the campaign here: https://lnkd.in/gXgWXwB8

🌟 Empowering Communities: Bridging the Gap Between Corporations and Non-Profits 🌟 As professionals, we often find ourselves deeply committed to fostering positive change in our communities. Today, I want to share a vision that holds immense potential for impact: the powerful collaboration between corporations and non-profit organizations. Regardless of our roles within our respective companies, we possess the ability to forge meaningful partnerships that can uplift and empower those in need. If there's a non-profit you deeply resonate with, take a moment to envision the transformative impact that could be achieved by joining forces. For me, that organization is Cradles To Crayons Inc, specifically their Philadelphia Chapter. Their dedication to providing essential resources and educational support to children in need resonates deeply, particularly in a city like Philadelphia, where over 300,000 children grapple with poverty. It's crucial to recognize that these children are not just statistics; they are the future of our community. By empowering them with the tools they need to thrive, we're investing in a brighter tomorrow for everyone. So, I urge you: if there's a cause close to your heart, don't hesitate to reach out. Forge connections between your company and the non-profit sector. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change that reverberates far beyond our individual efforts. Let's work hand in hand to build a future where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Together, we can make a difference. 💫 #CommunityEmpowerment #CorporateSocialResponsibility #PartnershipsThatMatter https://lnkd.in/dw4VTbUs

Dismas of Vermont gets $250,000 grant for housing! Earlier this week, the TD Charitable Foundation announced Dismas of VT would receive this grant from their Housing for Everyone program. I’ve been volunteering at the Dismas house in Hartford for almost 2 years now, so I was really excited to hear this news. Housing is a huge problem right now in our country. And especially those who have been involved with the justice system. This grant will fund a program that Dismas has been trying to start for years. Dismas will work with local landlords to sign a “master” lease and then sublet to residents of Dismas House who are ready to fully integrate back into the community, leaving the current residential program. What does this actually mean? What you may not know is that Dismas (and many other transitional housing programs, although there’s only one other provider in VT) receives funding from the VT department of corrections, and therefore must abide by many rules set by the DOC, which, as you would imagine, are pretty intrusive. This new program is separately funded, and will just be a regular apartment lease, no rules or restrictions. And this will prevent Dismas residents from being discriminated against purely because of their past. Learn more at www.dismasofvt.org or read the whole press release at https://lnkd.in/e_djUyWW
