My boss pitched the idea of creating vlogging content from the company's perspective. The reasoning is that most corporate videos are too corporatey, if that makes any sense, lol. I took the idea and ran with it, helping coordinate our team's donation to a local food pantry. It was a lot of fun. According to HubSpot in a 2024 Instagram report, 35% of the content that brands post is content that reflects your brand's values. According to Hootsuite's Social Media Trends 2025 report, nearly half of all brands post 61% to 100% content to entertain, educate, or inform without directly promoting their organization, products, or services. The data is there to take the risk and do some creative content. No one is perfect, and you can quickly tell I'm not the best at it, but give it a shot and see what happens. #SocialMedia #SocialMediaTrends #CreativeMarketing #DigitalMarketing

We appreciate your patience as we got together our Food Resources list for the month of May 2024. All locations will be closed on May 27th, 2024. Please share with your networks. Friends dont let friends be hungry. There are some new food resource sites as well as slight changes to other locations that have been made so please look closely to confirm the nearest food bank or mobile pantry location to you and that you have the most updated time and address. Please note that all food bank and mobile pantry locations only operate as long as supplies last so to ensure your best chances of being served we recommend arriving at least 15-20 minutes early to your location of choice. We appreciate the staff and volunteers at each of these locations who dedicate their time and labor to ensuring our communities have access to food. Unless specific dates are listed, locations operate on a weekly basis. To view and download a pdf copy of this flyer visit pik2ar.org/els and scroll down to the "Free, Weekly Utah Food Resources Lists" section, clicking the arrow down on "Where can I find the Food Resource Lists?" and it will open to reveal a link to the Salt Lake County List. Additional questions, concerns, or corrects about this flyer contact info@pik2ar.org

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Jared and Miki and ask them some questions. Here's how the conversation went. What made you want to work with Hope House’s Better Food Co Project? At Crafty Ramen, our purpose is to craft meaningful connections, so that together we can create a difference in the communities we serve. We wanted to work with Hope House’s Better Food Co Project, because of their important work and connection in a community that gives us our purpose. Hope House brings so much support to the community we love and we want to help in any way that we can. What does a community food system look like to you? We believe everyone should have access to quality, healthy meals. For us, a community food system is a way to connect communities through good food, and for those fortunate with more than enough to share with those that may not have enough. We created this project to share healthy food with low-income families. Why is that important? For us food is about more than sustenance—it is a way to show people we care about them and that they are valued. To provide quality food to those in communities that may not have access to it is our way of showing them that they are valued and perhaps even provide a little hope. We’ve all needed a helping hand at some point in our lives, and with this project we can pay that back and extend a hand to those that need it today. What excites you most about sharing this meal with our community? To us, ramen is the ultimate comfort food, so sharing our ramen with this community is our way of giving them a big hug and saying we care.

S:US believes that food is a basic right. S:US’ White Paper, “Uniting on Food Justice: An Innovative Approach from a Health and Human Service Organization” discusses the complexities of #foodinsecurity, highlights innovations and best practices in food justice, and calls for collective action to eradicate food insecurity in our communities. Our Community Food Security programs, like #UrbanFarms and #CommunityFridges, are embedded into our core services to address food insecurity. Highlighting the successes of current food cooperatives, food-as-medicine initiatives, public benefits programs and culinary skills training that address the four major components of food security, S:US calls for expansion of these innovative programs.

✨ This week’s spotlight shines a light on Kapish Chhabra and the recent Vancouver Food Systems Dialogue held at Vancouver City Hall. Kapish is a Columbia College, Vancouver BC. student and Community Connections practicum student with the Vancouver Food Justice Coalition (placement co-facilitated by Vancouver Food Runners). As Kapish’s placement wraps up, he reflects on what he’s learned over the last six months and shares about the primary project he was involved with: the Vancouver Food Systems Dialogue. SNEAK PEEK: ❓VFR: Kapish, what are some of your key reflections from the Dialogue? What stood out to you that day? Kapish: One of the most striking aspects of the Vancouver Food Systems Dialogue for me was the active participation of elected City Council members. Their presence demonstrated a significant willingness to engage with community voices and collaborate on finding solutions to pressing issues within our food systems. It was encouraging to see elected officials taking the time to listen to the lived experiences and expertise shared by community members and experts during the Dialogue. Furthermore, the willingness of diverse stakeholders to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue was inspiring. It highlighted the power of collaboration in addressing complex issues like food insecurity and building more equitable food systems. I really liked how despite facing numerous challenges, including those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, community organizations and individuals demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability in their efforts to address food insecurity and support vulnerable populations. Overall, the willingness of elected council members to be part of the Vancouver Food Systems Dialogue signalled a positive step towards building stronger connections between communities and government and working collaboratively to address systemic issues within our food systems.
