I love this article from Sabrina on our new Calculator unit operation. I’ve used the calculator to calculate process streams relative humidity, pipe velocities, entrainment targets based on a single phase flow to then feed a controller… the sky’s the limit!

🚀 Understanding the Importance of CB Parameter in STAAD Pro and how my VBA program calculates the CB value by treating the selected multiple analytical member as a single physical member. Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my latest video, where I dive into the significance of the CB parameter (Lateral Torsional Buckling Modification Factor) in STAAD Pro and how it directly affects the strength of members as per AISC 360-16. In this video, I cover: ✅ How CB is calculated using moment values at quarter points, midpoints, and maximum moments along unbraced segments. ✅ The role of CB in determining lateral-torsional buckling strength and its impact on Mn values. ✅ How STAAD treats each analytical member separately for design and calculates CB for each load case, especially when intermediate nodes exist. ✅ A practical example of how stress ratios differ when an intermediate node is introduced in a column, even with the same unbraced length. But here’s the game-changer: I showcase how my VBA program calculates the CB value by treating the selected member as a single physical member, even with intermediate nodes. It identifies the critical load case, calculates the CB value accurately, and helps ensure consistency in stress ratios and strength calculations. 💡 After manually inputting this CB value into STAAD, the results speak for themselves – accurate and consistent stress ratios for all members! This tool not only simplifies the design process but also ensures reliable results, saving time and effort in handling complex models with multiple load combinations. 📹 Watch the video to see the step-by-step process and the impact of this approach in action. I’d love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to share your experiences, insights, or questions about CB parameters or VBA automation for STAAD. Let’s learn and grow together! #STAADPro #StructuralEngineering #AISC360 #VBAScripting #EngineeringAutomation #LateralTorsionalBuckling #StructuralDesign #EngineeringInnovation
