Company missions and visions There is a lot of over-complicated hype around company missions and visions. However, if you can come up with a simple version of each, it really can help you to keep your own business proposition on track. A MISSION is a simple statement that outlines why your company exists. My own is to deliver sales, management and leadership training programmes that give individuals the skills, desire and confidence to apply the learning in the workplace. The vital ingredient of that statement is the bit about desire and confidence - most training programmes develop skills, but not so many create a real desire and confidence for learners to apply them. A VISION is a statement of what a company aspires to be. Mine is to be the first-choice provider for my existing clients next time they invest in a sales, management or leadership training programme. This reminds me of the importance of always delivering the best training events, staying in touch over the years and providing little bits of value and input from time to time. Perhaps it's time to revisit your own mission and vision - or to to create them for the first time...!
