This year, the theme of European #MobilityWeek is how we share our public spaces. It should be a communal goal to make our shared environments as pleasant and safe to move around as possible. A big obstacle to this is pollution - our cities in particular are badly affected by traffic congestion and exhaust emissions. Electric Vehicles (EVs) have offered a good way to reduce the environmental impact of cars - reducing some of the air and noise pollution our cities are dealing with. It’s no wonder then that when we asked Europeans to tell us the top three benefits of owning an EV, 37% of them said the lower environmental impact. 🚗🔋 Switching mobility to fully #electric is a major driver to reducing carbon emissions. For us as a company this is a key priority. Not only today on #EnvironmentDay, but every day. Therefore, I’m always happy to test the #ev experience when I’m travelling, as I’m hearing very often that EV‘s don’t work in other countries, esp. when you travel longer distances. This time I had the pleasure to drive a nice EV in #Spain. 🇪🇸 To make it short: Driving electric works also in Spain, but yes, the charging infrastructure is not comparable to other European countries like Germany. 🔋 Driving EV is for me always a pleasure, esp. when you are cruising Spanish highway speed at around 100-130 km/h. Having a consumption of 20 kWh/100 km is totally realistic here. 🔋 Nevertheless, testing an EV is a bit of a challenge as rental car companies have only a very limited amount of models in their portfolio. 🔋Charging infrastructure is clearly different in Spain but overall, I would consider it being ok. In the cities, parking garages and close to highways you have enough charging stations also with fast-charging capabilities, but you have close to no infrastructure directly on the highway, at least the 150 km where I was driving. A petrol station in Spain is still a petrol station. 😅 🌍 So, let’s switch to EV! #roadtozero #emobility #evcharging #CO2reduction
