3 Ridiculously Simple Ways To Capture Attention: 1. Numbers 2. Shock 3. WIIFM I started with a number. A small number at that. But if I was speaking on a stage and shouted an archaic proclamation, "Hear Ye! Hear Ye!" the crowd would be shocked, or at least surprised. -People don't speak like that anymore. -The proclamation literally means "Listen up everyone!" -Speakers rarely start with a shout from stage. One time, I started a speech to 1000+ people by playing a song with a storyboard video. No one else at that conference played a song in their presentation. People were hooked from the beginning. The song set up the outline for the rest of my talk. Surprise / shock. Finally, you have to deliver the WIIFM. What's in it for me? In this post, I operated with an implied WIIFM. You want to capture people's attention. And you want simple ways to do that. So I delivered on your WIIFM. See how you can capture attention?
