Meet Ahmed Ansari, MD, Dermatologist at Olmsted Medical Center. Dr. Ansari sees patients of all ages for their skincare needs, including rashes, skin cancer, cosmetic concerns, and more. Dr. Ansari also performs procedures such as biopsies, steroid injections, skin cancer excision, Mohs surgery, and image-guided superficial radiotherapy (IG-SRT). Dr. Ansari says, “I want patients to know that here at OMC they can feel cared for. I will give them all the time and attention they need, as if they were a family member. I hope that they can just relax and be themselves during the appointment. Connecting with patients allows them to engage and have confidence in the treatment plan at the end of the day.” Outside of work, Dr. Ansari enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, being outdoors, and exploring Rochester’s culinary scene. Hi, my name is Doctor Ahmed Ansari. I'm a dermatologist here at OCC. I see patients of all ages in dermatology, so I care for all of patients skin care needs. I see everything from rashes and skin cancer to any cosmetic concerns that patients may have. We do many procedures in dermatology. These can range from biopsies, they can include steroid injections. We also do some cosmetic procedures and then we excise. In cancers and I have also started doing those micrographic surgery here as well and most surgery offers the highest cure rate for skin cancer and it also helps patients have the smallest and most cosmetically desirable scar possible. We have also started doing IG SRT and we have many patients that have now been enrolled in it and they've all been having good results so far. The things that we see most commonly, so different types of rashes, we see eczema a lot. We also see patients for skin cancer checks. And so for a skin cancer check, you'll come in, we'll take a look head to toe. We can focus on any areas that you have any concerns on, but otherwise we'll just go over the entire body and make sure that everything is looking normal and healthy. I want patients to know that you're at Olmsted. They can feel cared for and I will give them all the. At the time they need the attention that they need as if they were a family member and so they should just relax and just be themselves during the appointment. If you have any concerns at all about any rashes that you're having or any spots that are you changing, painful or you're just worried about them, then definitely self refer and come in and see us and we'd be happy to take a look. I became a dermatologist because there's so many different needs that can happen for this skin, everything from seeing rashes to seeing skin cancer. All of it interests me seeing medical dermatology, seeing cosmetic concerns that patients have, performing procedures to get rid of any concerns and to treat skin cancer. I just want to be as much of A one stop shop as I can for all of patients skin care needs. And so I see all of their concerns and I see patients of all age ranges. If patients have cosmetic concerns, we do offer Botox as well. And you know we excise skin cancers, cysts, lipomas, we remove. 9 lesions, malignant lesions, so anything on the skin, it's a good idea to come see us and if we can't do it, we can definitely direct you to where you need to go. I think it's important to connect to patients because. You know, when you come in, you see a new provider, you're nervous, you're feeling anxious. Connecting with patients allows them to really engage with you and to have confidence in the treatment plan at the end of the day. And so you want to make sure that patients agree with you and it's a two way St. because ultimately they're the ones that have to do the treatment in order to get better. I always try to enter the room, say hi, trying to shake hands, greet patients, make sure that they feel comfortable and then you know, it's always good to get to know them throughout the time that we're together. Do they work or they retired? What keeps them busy? Do they have any other concerns outside or just their skin? So just getting to know them better as person. So I stay pretty busy with my family outside of work. We enjoy traveling, just being outdoors, playing sports, going to some of the great restaurants in town. So we usually just spending time around Rochester. My favorite part about working here at 1C is just to be able to take care of all the amazing patients that we have, working together with colleagues both in dermatology as well as in other specialties. Including rheumatology, plastic surgery, Podiatry, we share all of our patients and communicate well with each other so that we can take good care of them and help to offer seamless transitions that we need more consultation with them as well. My greatest source of satisfaction is just to be able to see patients and see them over long term. I like to see, you know, when they come in, they're feeling anxious, they've got concerns, and then throughout the course of a year or a couple months, we try to address those concerns, get them feeling better. And then just seeing them back when they're problem is fixed and they're doing better, that happiness that they have, that just means the world to me.
