You’ve probably seen a few of these today, but Team SustainRecruit is still fundraising for Stepping Stone House in their Sleep Under the Stars event – which is TONIGHT! Today is the FINAL day, and thanks to the generosity of the event's major partners, any donations made today will be MULTIPLIED BY 5! That means a $50 donation turns into $250, and $100 becomes $500! What impact does that have? Here’s how your multiplied donation can make a real difference: $25 x 5 = $125 — enough to cover a room setup and an emergency welcome pack for an at-risk youth. $45 x 5 = $225 — this provides five weeks of transport for a young person in Stepping Stone House’s care. $100 x 5 = $500 — enough to cover an entire year's worth of educational supplies for one young person! Charity—whether through money, food, clothing, or toys—is a vital practice that we should make a regular part of our lives. In Islam, even a simple smile is considered an act of charity. It’s inspiring to see people dedicate their time and effort to something spiritually enriching while supporting those in need. Here are some key takeaways about charity and its significance in Islam. Charity helps alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and strengthen bonds within the community, fostering a sense of mutual care and responsibility. Islam emphasizes that acts of charity, big or small, are significant in the eyes of Allah, as I said above even a smile can count as charity. In fact , Zakat(charity) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, requiring Muslims to give a fixed percentage (usually 2.5%) of their wealth annually to help the needy, support social welfare, and promote economic balance. Charity is considered a way to purify one’s wealth and soul, reduce greed, and earn Allah’s blessings and forgiveness. The Qur’an and Hadith frequently promise immense rewards for those who give generously. Ultimately, charity benefits both the giver and the receiver, serving as a powerful means to foster a more just, fair, and compassionate society.

The Aviva Foundation is rounding off the year on a high 🙌   In 2024 they have supported over 20 charities and community groups, donating more than £2m. Their work has helped build the financial resilience of those who need it the most.   And to top off the year they are supporting Autistica, the UK’s leading autism research charity, to launch a free app bringing together reliable information about autism into one place.    The Aviva Foundation is supporting the app’s financial wellbeing section following feedback that financial resilience and money management were topics that autistic people were overwhelmingly looking for credible guidance on. It will also include tailored resources for people working in financial services to help them better understand how to cater for autistic people’s unique needs.   👉 https://lnkd.in/d9Qa4-Pv   The Aviva Foundation is administered by Charities Trust under charity registration number 327489.
