We are excited to have formalised our #partnership with Hotelschool The Hague, after a longstanding relationship with the institution. Hotelschool The Hague provides high-quality education and cutting-edge research in the field of international #hospitalitymanagement, with an emphasis on the transformation of #sustainability and #digitalisation. Together, we aim to drive the development of #training modules in #entrepreneurship that can be deployed in areas local to where #hotels operate. These modules will offer micro-credentials to students and professionals, formalising and acknowledging their learning and new skills. Through the formation of this knowledge and training #partnership, we intend to increase positive #local impact and contribute to becoming #NetPositive for people, planet and place. I am looking forward to the upcoming weeks with my project group consisting of Mathijs Versteeg, Thomas Wielinga, Lars Scholten, and Sophie Huften. Yes, you might argue that this is a "promo" article, a wonderful piece of paid publicity. And you will have every right to say so. However, it is very insightful for what is clearly the "new situation" and "the tomorrow" for the education field in the global #hospitality industry. When it comes from EHL, we can only benefit to learn from the best and follow, if we can, their best practices. Because as #educators and teachers we must be open-minded and ready to welcome and embrace #change! Below are some aspects I found really interesting and insightful from the article: "The École Hôtelière de Lausanne is now known as EHL Hospitality Business School" "[Students] in their first year, they must do practical work, from pouring wine to poaching eggs — and polishing lavatories to a five-star shine. “They are not being trained to become room attendants, but they have to understand the importance and principle of cleaning to the highest standards". "The Lausanne campus feels more like Stanford than a starchy hotel school". "A 15-page dress code recently dropped the requirement for ties but is still more exacting than that of many Mayfair clubs". "Fewer than half of EHL graduates go into hospitality at all - “It’s important that they are equipped with a set of competencies that also allow them to enter neighboring industries.” "High-end hospitality culture, which was arguably forged in Lausanne, is now transforming multiple industries and EHL’s teaching staff are frequently called on to consult on projects that have nothing to do with hotels". #trends #hotels #education #hospitality
