This week at Olympic Medical Center, we celebrate "So much more than a hospital week." This is our version of hospital week. Olympic Medical Center is the center of our rural healthcare delivery system, offering 24/7/365 access to trauma care, labor and delivery and intensive care. That's not all, we have primary care, pediatrics, skilled specialty care, home health, a cancer center, diagnostic imaging, an expansive laboratory, walk-in clinics, physical therapy and so much more. Further, our employees and providers are so much more than healthcare workers, they are active members of the rural communities that make up Clallam County. We dare say they are "rurally awesome." Because of our great employees, receiving recognition as a Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital for the 9th in a row isn't all that surprising. They really are the best!

Respect and thanks for an extraordinary event in Lucerne last Thursday and Friday. The Swiss Pediatric Congress, which was organized by an organizing committee of the Children's Hospital of Central Switzerland under the leadership of Nicole Ritz and Martin Stocker, was an exceptional event that, through the choice of topics and speakers, clearly demonstrated how we all can and have to develop and improve paediatric care in Switzerland and beyond in the coming years. I can't remember any recent event that was so consistently well designed and organized and at the same time provided such crucial impulses and food for thought. Two things are very clear: There is no alternative to the digital transformation of our institutions and there is no alternative to the expansion of powerful electronic medical health records, as well as other digitalization measures in the hospitals, even if they are associated with high costs. Second, pediatrics will always remain a discipline that requires a relatively high number of committed staff because many processes cannot be replaced by automated algorithms or examination methods.

As a pediatric cardiologist, I have the privilege of caring for some of the bravest patients a doctor could meet – children. But the truth is, I often learn just as much from them and their families as they do from me. Here are 5 key lessons that have stayed with me throughout my career: Strength in Resilience: Children facing health challenges often show a strong ability to bounce back and keep going. Their determined spirit is a great reminder for all of us to stay positive and keep trying, even when things are difficult. The Power of Perspective: Seeing the world through a child's eyes reminds me of the simple joys in life. It emphasises the importance of focusing on what truly matters, especially during challenging times. 3. The Importance of Family Support: The enduring love and strength of a child's family is a cornerstone of healing. Witnessing this bond motivates me to ensure open communication and teamwork with families at every step. 4. The Value of Small Victories: In the world of Pediatric Cardiology, progress often comes in small but significant milestones. From a doctor's perspective, seeing my patients achieve even the smallest milestones fills my heart. It's a constant reminder to celebrate every step forward on a child's journey to a healthier heart. 5. Hope is Contagious: A child's hope for a brighter future is a powerful motivator. Working alongside these amazing children fuels a collaborative pursuit of the best possible outcomes for every patient. Together, with their families and the healthcare team, we strive to create a brighter future for each child's health. Every child's story is unique, and each interaction shapes my approach to medicine in profound ways. From the quiet strength of a child battling a complex condition to the infectious joy of a child celebrating a small victory, my patients teach me invaluable lessons about resilience, hope, and the importance of a holistic approach to care. These experiences constantly remind me that the best treatments go beyond just medication or procedures. These are just a few of the many lessons I've learned from my patients. I'm always eager to learn from fellow doctors! If you have a story to share about a patient who has inspired you! #DrPrashantBobhate #PediatricCardiology #ChildrensHealth #Grateful

As technology makes its inevitable impact on healthcare, it’s vitally important that we do not further exacerbate the gap between those who have means and those who do not. Here’s someone who is seeing to it that accessibility to top healthcare for pediatric needs are equalized between urban and rural communities. #leadership #healthcare #pediatrichealthcare #technology
The majority of rural counties in the US have no pediatric generalist or specialist - including Howard Memorial in Willits, CA. Read on to understand the challenges in rural emergency medicine. We launched the Pediatric Moonshot to reduce healthcare inequity, lower costs and improve patient outcomes for children rurally and globally. We have the capacity to deliver a simple, streamlined, national rural emergency image sharing network - a first step in using technology to transform children's healthcare.
