PLEASE SHARE! Pipeline industry friends: When was the last time you conducted a real emergency evacuation? When did you last practice evacuating? This is one of our most important duties in emergency response; unfortunately, many don't prepare as diligently as necessary to ensure maximum effectiveness. DON'T MISS the upcoming August 28, 2024, FREE Energy Worldnet (EWN) webinar "Conducting Effective Pipeline Emergency Evacuations." In it, I'll review the timeline and actions of the 2013 JJ's Restaurant Explosion, share lessons learned from the investigation, and discuss when and how to conduct evacuations. This video will provide you with insight into the incident we'll use as a case study. In a pipeline emergency response, the operator's highest priority is to protect life. I'll review the AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. HELP process to guide pipeline incident response. This webinar will help you to become a better incident responder, whether you work for an operator or a contractor. Did you know 75% of all fire deaths each year happen at home? In fact, the risk of death in a home fire is higher today than it was 40 years ago. To raise awareness during Home Fire Sprinkler Week, the NFPA Fire Sprinkler Initiative is working with the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition to highlight the necessity of home fire sprinklers. Fires today burn both hotter and faster, putting occupants and firefighters in dangerous situations. But there are actionable steps each of us can take to mitigate home fires, starting with installing home fire sprinklers. For more on this initiative and how you can get involved, take a look at these messages from me and other dedicated industry leaders: https://lnkd.in/ePuytpAw

A New Version of BS EN 360 With Significant changes was published in January. Did You Miss It? The latest publication is much more than a simple update. The photo here (From Globestock Safety) highlights all the changes from the old standard to the new. The green colours indicate changes… There is A LOT of green! BS EN 360 is the European Standard for retractable-type fall arresters and one of the main refinements of the 2023 version is the more stringent testing requirements. The dynamic testing requirements for fall arrest equipment have been completely overhauled to reflect better the extreme conditions this gear might face, from wide temperature variations to performance under full extraction. With these more rigorous tests, products certified under the new 2023 standard are set to be safer than those conforming to the old 2002 standard. This latest publication replaces all previous versions, meaning that any fall arresters certified under the old standards must be re-tested and re-certified once their current certificates expire. We have spoken to many industry people who weren't aware of this change, so I felt it was important to highlight it. Ensuring products and systems are safe to use and comply with relevant standards and regulations helps to prevent accidents, protect lives, and maintain public trust in products and services. Because when it comes to safety, we never compromise.
