Want to know why I talk about work culture and well-being so much? It's because I experienced working in an extremely toxic workplace under an extremely toxic boss. I spent years dealing with the trauma from that experience in therapy. For example, there were days that myself and other colleagues would puke before we went to work, and the constant stress took a toll on my mental and physical health. I'm passionate about speaking up on the importance of treating people with respect, kindness, and empathy because it matters! I'm passionate about vetting the companies we work with because I know firsthand what it's like working in a company that treats people so poorly, and I would never want to put our candidates in that position. AND it's actually a WIN-WIN because when people feel well taken care of, they perform better, are more productive, and care more. I wanted to take the time to share an interesting interview our team published this month featuring a discussion between @Domiziano Pontone, Chief Corporate Sales Officer at @Gi Group Holding, and Vlastimil Václavík, HR Project Manager at Škoda Group. It was interesting to hear both men’s takes on the evolution of the public transport manufacturing industry both in Central Europe and around the world at large. Specifically, they touched upon the key issue of talent shortages and the need to rethink search and staffing, plus skilling programmes, for new roles as the sector evolves. Within this discussion they also highlighted the issue of labour mobility which is very important in the CEE regional context, specifically when it comes to finding qualified, skilled talent in other parts of the world, to take on new roles for which local skills are lacking. Škoda Group is just one of many companies bringing in needed talent from parts of Eastern Europe and Asia to shore up skills gaps in production, logistics and tech development roles.
