Laura Lindemann who won recent 2024 World Triathlon Indoor Cup in Lievin says a few seconds later (at 8m 05 sec of the video) that the final race was "all out". But it is not exactly true - look at the breakdown of her results in the semi-final and the final: Swim 150m - Bike 3000m - Run 1000m Semi-Final 01'47 - 04'49 - 03'10 = 10minutes 25sec Final 01'49 - 04'42 - 03'04 = 10minutes 19sec So a bit slower swim helped Laura not just to improve her Bike and Run legs. Look at how comfortably she added speed and controlled the race in her last 400 meters (starting on 6m 20sec of the video). That's very impressive, of course, but in order to control the swimming pace like that one needs to work not necessarily on the power of the swimming strokes, i.e. no on improving your best strokes. Rather one needs to work on improving the bad strokes and on improving the rhythm. There are multiple strategies on improving the worst strokes, but first you need to know what is the difference between you good and bad strokes, and what are the root causes of the bad strokes.
