Omaha Public Power District’s Post

We're celebrating #PrideMonth by shining a light on our LGBTQIA+ employees and allies. 🌈 Meet Barb, Manager of Business Relationship Management at OPPD. 👋 In her role, Barb and her team strategize across the district to understand the business needs and help develop OPPD's technology roadmap. Celebrating Pride Month is important to Barb because it fosters an environment where individuals feel accepted and supported to express their true selves. She's witnessed the positive impact of people feeling seen and accepted, knowing they have allies who support them. Barb believes an inclusive and diverse work environment is essential because everyone's life experiences provide them with a unique perspective of the world. These perspectives translate into the workplace by offering alternative approaches for generating new ideas and resolving issues. When a company like OPPD embraces inclusivity and diversity, it attracts exceptional talent, which benefits everyone. Her advice? "Never assume that people know you are an ally. Be public and vocal so people know you accept and love them exactly as they are."
