𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 LinkedIn friends! 😉 𝐂𝐓𝐄 (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) seems to be a touchy subject in the world of sports. While some believe that 𝐂𝐓𝐄 are an inherent component of contact sports, others feel like more needs to be done to protect athletes from the long term effects of head injuries. 😷 For example, youth soccer players younger than age 11 are not allowed to head the ball (a player hits the ball with their head to move it in a certain direction) in an effort to minimize head injuries. ⚽ The number of confirmed CTE cases is greatest among boxers & football players; however, CTE has also been diagnosed in soccer, ice hockey, wrestling, & rugby players. ⚽ 🏒 🏉 🤼 As a former fighter myself, I understand the risks of head injuries in contact sports & the importance of raising awareness about 𝐂𝐓𝐄. 🥊 Feel free to share your thoughts on this topic! #cte #sportsmedicine David B.
