Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's a special day of joy and reflection, honoring African American freedom and heritage. In the tourism and hospitality industry, recognizing Juneteenth is about embracing and encouraging diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). It means making sure all visitors and employees feel respected and valued, no matter their background. Celebrating Juneteenth can also make travel more interesting and meaningful by highlighting important historical sites, supporting Black businesses and stories from African American history. By focusing on DEI, the tourism and hospitality industry can create welcoming spaces for everyone, offering richer and more inclusive experiences for both guests and staff. How do you plan to celebrate Juneteenth this year?

Juneteenth falls right in the middle of one of the world's most famous and largest creative festivals, Cannes Lions! For the advertising and creative world, there is no getting around it — it’s the busiest and most festive time of year for our industry. So what happens when you need to work through an important holiday? Earlier this year, our team spoke with the DEI team at Cannes about creative ways to honor Juneteenth when you still have to be on and connected for the international festival. One idea was working with brands like Because Of Them We Can, whose main focus is to shine a light on Black History and to share stories of the world's first. What better way to honor the spirit of Juneteenth than celebrating the first creatives that paved the way so people of all backgrounds can attend Cannes, and achieve success in our industry. How are you honoring Juneteenth at/during Cannes? Do you have any other ideas? Please share in the comments so we can continue the conversation.

As we prepare to recognize and celebrate the 159th anniversary of Juneteenth (June 19th), Blue Level would like to offer suggestions for ways in which your organization can stand in support. Here are some actions you can take in solidarity with Juneteenth: 1. Support local Black owned businesses. 2. Review your Diversity Supplier list, or create one. 3. Elevate and support local Juneteenth celebrations. 4. Provide Learning Opportunities through Workshops or Speaking Engagements.

It’s most concerning that heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death for African Americans. In this video, I dive into some causes and what can be done to help prevent such problems. At TriHealth, we are actively raising awareness and providing resources to reduce the inequities around heart disease within our communities. #BeSeenBeHealedBeHeard #HealthEquity #Health #Healthcare
TriHealth is proud to celebrate Black History Month by emphasizing our work to foster greater Diversity, Equity (including and especially Health Equity), Inclusion and Belonging. This work not only continues around the clock at TriHealth, but is accelerating here and within the communities we serve! Eliminating health disparities and achieving health equity are central to Getting Healthcare Right because it is the only way we can truly ensure that everyone we serve has equal access to the right care in the right place at the right time to achieve the right health outcomes. Thank you to Thomas Shockley for giving us his valuable insight into his continued work in preventative healthcare within the Cincinnati community.

Founder & CEO of HER Wine an Award-Winning Wine Collection As Seen in Essence | Motivational Speaker, Breast Cancer survivor |Marketer & Happiness Coach | Empowering Through Entrepreneurship & Positivity
From Passion to Purpose: Celebrating My Journey in the Wine Industry ✨🍷 As we celebrate Black History Month, I'm taking a moment to reflect on my journey—a journey that has taken me from being just an everyday girl with a love for wine to becoming a proud Black woman entrepreneur in the wine business. Starting out, wine was a passion, a simple pleasure that brought joy and comfort. But somewhere along the way, that passion sparked a dream: to create a wine collection that reflected my tastes, my experiences, and my story. Today, I stand proud with a collection of four wines, each bottle a chapter of my journey, highlighting those pivotal moments we deserve self care. Being a Black woman in the wine industry comes with its unique challenges. It's a path less traveled, with obstacles that often seemed insurmountable. But it's also a path of immense beauty, filled with community support, and opportunity to build our own generational legacy and pave the way for future spirit owners. This Black History Month, I celebrate not just my achievements, but the achievements of all who have come before me and those who walk beside me. My collection of wines is more than just a product; it's a symbol of perseverance, empowerment, and the joy of pursuing one's dreams against all odds. To everyone who has supported me, believed in me, and shared in my journey, thank you. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. Here's to many more years of breaking barriers, creating beautiful experiences, and enjoying the wine that brings us together. 🥂 Cheers to Black History Month and to dreams turned into reality. #BlackHistoryMonth #WineIndustry #BlackWomenInBusiness #Entrepreneurship #WineLover #DreamBig

reflecting on the past can be a powerful tool for personal growth. It allows us to review life events and understand their impact on us, which can be revitalizing. By reminiscing, we engage in self-reflection, giving meaning to our lives and preparing ourselves for the future1. Remembering past experiences, especially the challenging ones, can remind us of our resilience and ability to cope during difficult times. Moreover, reminiscing can help us maintain and strengthen our relationships by sharing life experiences and advice with othersIt’s a lifelong activity that starts in childhood and continues into our elder years, providing both cognitive and emotional meaning. In essence, our memories are landmarks in our personal development, helping us chart our evolution and gain wisdom from our experiences.By reframing past events with new context, we can grow alongside these memories and use them to maintain our personal identity, strengthen our relationships, and direct our future.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on our past and commit to building a more just and equitable world for future generations. As a reminder, CIRI offices will be closed today in observance of the holiday. "Juneteenth is not a Black cultural event; it is an American cultural event. As we celebrate Juneteenth... come in a spirit of expectation, a spirit of love, a spirit of unity, a spirit of hope that our future as Americans will be brighter than our past." —Ernestina Cady Hardrick

Black History Month holds profound significance for me as a leader and as a woman of color. It's a time to reflect on the journey of resilience and determination that has brought me to where I am today. From overcoming challenges to celebrating achievements and breaking barriers, this month serves as a poignant reminder of the countless trailblazers who have paved the way before me and those currently journeying beside me. Dr. Mae Jemison's timeless words, "Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations," resonate deeply with me. They serve as a powerful reminder to defy expectations and chart a course uniquely my own, both personally and professionally. In the face of doubt or adversity, it is essential to boldly remain unwavering in our convictions, firmly anchored in our values, and relentless in the pursuit of our goals. Inspired by the unwavering resilience of people of color and the power of representation, I draw strength and inspiration from my own personal journey—a journey marked not only by moments of doubt and adversity but also by an unshakeable belief in the endless possibilities that lie ahead. As a leader, a wife, a mother, and a daughter, I take pride in championing opportunities for individuals from all walks of life, fostering a workplace and a life where diversity is not merely acknowledged, but embraced as a cornerstone of strength. As we honor the legacy of Black excellence this month, let's not only reflect on our history but also remember the power we hold to actively shape our future. Together, we can build a world where everyone has a chance to thrive and live a life filled with limitless opportunity.

As we continue to commemorate Black History Month, we wanted to take the opportunity to honor the heritage, achievements, and contributions of a few of our team members at A.G. Risk Management Inc. Meet Quincy Epps, IT Support Analyst at A. G. Risk Management: 1. What has allowed you to grow within the company? My growth within AGRM is a testament to my personal resolve to define my own growth trajectory, complemented by the company’s supportive environment and the tools it provides, fostering a culture where one’s background becomes a foundation for achievement, not a barrier. 2. Why is black history important to you? Black History is the essence of my identity, teaching resilience and empathy; it’s a beacon that guides my dedication to justice and inclusivity, illuminating the path toward a more equitable world. 3. Who are the figures in Black history most significant to you? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and my mother, embodying the principles of equality, unity, and love, stand as my north stars, inspiring me to contribute to the legacy of positive change and understanding. 4. What are some ways each of us can celebrate Black History Month?
