Building Resilience in Sudan: Reflections from the Fragility Forum 2024 Participating in the online Fragility Forum 2024: Adapting and Innovating in a Volatile World, I was particularly interested in the discussions about Sudan's situation. The forum shed light on several crucial aspects that resonated with my perspective: 1. Comprehensive Solutions and a Holistic Approach: The forum highlighted Chad's "twin support" approach, extending aid to both Sudanese refugees and its host communities. This resonated with my belief in comprehensive solutions addressing the needs of all affected groups. Similarly, the emphasis on a holistic approach to tackling root causes like food insecurity and lack of education aligns with my understanding that achieving the 2030 SDGs in Sudan requires a multi-faceted strategy. 2. Global Collaboration and Leadership: The forum reinforced my conviction that addressing the refugee crisis requires a collective international effort. Stronger leadership and coordinated efforts across nations are crucial for achieving long-term stability. Additionally, the forum acknowledged the complexity of planning for refugee resettlement, including the importance of incorporating refugees' needs in host community plans, advocating for equitable growth, and re-engaging rural areas. Furthermore, it stressed the vital role of the international community in providing support and ensuring accountability. 3. Learning from the Past and Embracing Diversity: The forum emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences for building resilience, drawing parallels with Bosnia & Herzegovina's post-war reconstruction. It further highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion, stressing the need to involve women, children (the most vulnerable), and all affected communities in decision-making for truly equitable and sustainable solutions. 4. Multi-Layered Resilience and Navigating Globalization: The forum explored the variety of resilience definitions, ranging from local responses to national-level capacity against global shocks. This highlighted the need for multi-layered approaches addressing resilience at different scales. Furthermore, the forum explored the complex relationship between globalization, local governance, and transnational threats. It discussed how both effective local governance and strong local institutions can contribute to combating transnational threats and shaping broader global frameworks to address complex challenges effectively. The Fragility Forum 2024 served as a powerful reminder that building resilience requires collective action, strategic planning, dedicated efforts, and inclusivity. It is our collective responsibility to continue these conversations and promote innovative solutions for a more resilient and equitable future, not just for Sudan but for all vulnerable communities facing similar challenges. #Sudan #Fragile #KeepEyesOnSudan

I attended an interesting online forum by The World Bank yesterday. It spoke about 3 things: Fragility, Conflict and Volatility – while it covered nations that still have no basic needs for water, energy, food and education the biggest take away was nations needed to have 1/goals 2/an economy that is thriving to sustain talent and 3/we can’t do it alone, private and public sector must come together. The conversations are interesting for a technologist. Why? Government leaders today view technology as “intervention” strategies to - Adapt and innovate in a volatile world. Crisis is the new normal, the world will continue to be volatile. The lessons gathered in this forum for technologist like us is, digital transformation and innovation are proven to grow nations: 1/ It builds financial inclusion. A wallet to transact when globally 1.4 billion adults remain unbanked, and the gap is closing down fast according to World Bank in 2023. An area to be understood Web3 and DeFi, and how Fintech can close this divide. 2/ Education can empower and build a striving nation. Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty and improving health, gender equality, peace, and stability. Developing countries have made tremendous progress in getting children into the classroom and most children worldwide are now in primary school. 3/ In the discussion, Technology and digital inclusion can create a nation that improves business and lives, in turn creates a resilient nation that talent can stay. As technology serves to better humanity, technologist can work backwards from citizen, government and customer issues, understand what problems we are trying to solve through technology inclusion example, #generativeai can break language barriers. It now can intentionally help governments and business build better intervention strategies to create economic growth. Explore the interesting insights from World Bank in this forum. It's truly an eye opener to help technologist build and define #valuechains. #technologyintervention #businesstransformation #growthstrategies #empowerleadership

Fragility is a major pressing issue in the global landscape. Several models and thinking frames have been put forward in attempts to ensure the most vulnerable populations are protected immediately and supported to return back to stable states of livelihoods. I have contributed to the policy and operational guidelines for nonprofit fundraising and programs, but it ever feels like the efforts barely even scratch the surface of the suite of tools needed to address the level of complexity across regions and within countries. Regardless, this WB-led conversation is current and worth the attention of all and especially policy leaders in the public, private and nonprofits spaces.

Life is full of challenges and competition, leading us to prioritize our interests and crave independence. When faced with persuasion or change, defensiveness can kick in as giving in may feel like a threat to our autonomy. To influence effectively, making others feel like they act of their own free will is key. Building mutual warmth can dissolve resistance and encourage willingness to assist. By taming our stubbornness and expanding our perspectives, we unleash our creative abilities. Discover more about unlocking creativity and overcoming resistance at https://lnkd.in/d3ActKWm. Find your new business opportunities with experienced international business development senior executive - B2B export, innovations, inventions, new technologies, AI, CSR/ESG - business partners search, product sourcing
Happy to be sharing with you the following: https://lnkd.in/dDb8pQKV My perspective: In the realm of corporate social responsibility (CSR), Fragility, conflict, and violence (FCV) are pivotal, shaping responsible business practices. By 2030, 60% of the world's poor may be in fragile areas, emphasizing CSR's critical role. Chronic instability, civil wars, pandemics, and climate disasters demand a comprehensive corporate approach. The Fragility Forum 2024 offers a chance for adaptive business responses. Engaging stakeholders, it encourages examining successes and failures in developmental interventions within fragile situations. CSR presents a unique chance for corporations to learn, adapt, and align initiatives with peacebuilding and resilience. Strategies must extend beyond philanthropy, involving collaborative efforts with governments, NGOs, and local communities, fostering lasting impacts in fragile regions. CSR's role in addressing transboundary effects of FCV is crucial. Businesses should think globally, forming partnerships, developing innovative solutions, contributing to risk management, and promoting inclusive development. Focusing on FCV within CSR reflects a forward-thinking, socially responsible approach, contributing to a more peaceful world. By incorporating Fragility, conflict, and violence into CSR, businesses align with responsible and sustainable corporate citizenship, fostering positive global change. And... what's your position on the subject?... How do you envision businesses leveraging the potency of CSR to navigate the intricate challenges posed by Fragility, conflict, and violence, and actively contribute to shaping a more resilient and harmonious global society? In your perspective on responsible corporate practices, how do YOU think companies can devise innovative strategies to make a significant impact on fragile and conflict-affected situations, fostering positive change and sustainable development?
