At Clueso (YC W23), we’ve spent $0 on marketing to date. Still, we got a billboard ad on Times Square, NYC! Our most effective customer acquisition channels (ranked in descending order) so far have been: 1️⃣ Y Combinator channels: Our recent product launch on Launch YC was a massive hit, raking in 100+ demos in 1 month alone! Our first-ever launch was on Bookface, an internal YC forum. It got us our first paid customer, and also conversations with several companies whose early feedback shaped our product direction. 2️⃣ Founder Hustle (specialized outbound): We keep an eagle eye on companies expanding their customer-facing and product teams (Clueso helps them with customer onboarding and support videos), and ops-heavy companies looking to document internal workflows better. Our Indian Institute of Technology, Madras alums are worldwide; we try to leverage that network to get in with companies as well. 3️⃣ Inbound from LinkedIn: We try to stay active on LinkedIn and post product updates, customer stories, interesting anecdotes, and more. We’ve noticed that personal posts about our journey get the most traction! 4️⃣ Word-of-mouth: Our own customers frequently help us with referrals too!
