The recommendations from on sodium valproate and mesh are so depressing. What makes me feel particularly angry is that the risks of SV have been know for decades and safer alternatives have been available for years. Why are these medicines prescribed for women who might fall pregnant? Why aren't the warnings on medicines packing prominent and clear? There is a lot of focusing of digitising the patient information leaflets enclosed with medicines. We know that only around 40% of people understand the lengthy small print. The first priority should be to make the risks and benefits of medicines crystal clear. This is a regulatory issue which needs to be urgently addressed to improve patient safety.

Compounding pharmacies are able to provide clinicians with a variety of options of medication dosage forms for their pediatric patients. Common preparations are seen in liquid and topical forms. Freezer pops, gummy chews, and lollipops can be made containing different medicines depending on patient need. These medications can also be flavored according to patient preference. https://lnkd.in/gtcbhShr #VillageCompoundingPharmacy #CompoundingPharmacy #Wellness #HealthandWellness #Postmenopause #Perimenopause #Premenopause #WomensHealth #WomensHealthandWellness #HormoneReplacementTherapy #HormoneReplacement #Compounding #CustomMedications #PersonalizedMedicine

Today (September 20), the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced its proposal to deny the authorisation sought by the Infant Nutrition Council for the ‘Marketing in Australia of Infant Formula: Manufacturers and Importers Agreement’ (MAIF Agreement). The ACCC expressed concerns that the voluntary code no longer delivers sufficient public benefits to outweigh the potential public detriment. Key Highlights: - MAIF Agreement: A voluntary code aimed at restricting the promotion of infant formula to protect and promote breastfeeding rates in Australia. - ACCC Concerns: The ACCC highlighted issues with the code’s voluntary nature, limited scope, and its inability to effectively regulate modern digital marketing practices, such as social media and influencer content. - Future of Regulation: An independent review recommended replacing the MAIF Agreement with a stronger, mandatory regulatory framework, a suggestion the Australian Government is currently considering. The ACCC is seeking submissions on this draft determination by October 17, 2024, before making its final decision.
