How is the lining thickness verified? That is a great question! The robotic system utilizes LIDAR on the front and back of each robot in order to keep itself centered in the pipe. The LIDAR feedback also provides real-time thickness verification. Everyone knows Vision-Only is the future. Self driving cars don’t need lidar. Really? I mean let’s have a look at the physics involved. Camera: ☝️relies on ambient light - no light no vision ☝️prone to over exposure - too much light no vision ☝️blocked by obstruction - dirt or rain no vision Lidar: ☝️ actively illuminates the scene - doesn’t rely on ambient light ☝️ only sensitive to specific wavelength - robust against overexposure ☝️ multi echo - the lidar sensor can detect multiple returns allowing to look past objects What’s your take on vision only vs lidar?
