Taking DIY to the next level! 🛠 Jordan Millhausen showed us how he saved big while installing custom black Elite Turf in his new facility. He saved $10,000+ and also shared a guide of the materials, tools, and processes he used. Materials & tools — 1. Floor grinder 2. 5 gallon buckets of carpet glue 3. Plenty of v groove trowels 4. Bucket of hot water 5. Plenty of rags 6. Carpet roller 6. Plenty of heavy objects ——— Process — 1. Scuff surface for proper glue adhesion 2. Thoroughly clean (not in video) 3. Roll out and stage turf 4. Check for imperfections before gluing (this process is permanent) 5. Section by section roll half the turf, spread the glue and repeat for the other half 6. Carpet roll to remove air bubbles 7. Place heavy objects all around for proper adhesion ——— The most important part is to keep everything clean. The glue is messy and can quickly ruin your investment 🧼

Sometimes soil compaction is not the sole cause of short root growth of your established turf. Sometimes watering daily in long time frames causes the roots of your turf to not seek out deep water. Which means when the top of your soil is always wet. The grass turf won't expend the energy to grow roots deeper into the soil. If you have both soil compaction and overwatering then do not expect to have root growth deeper than about 1 inch deep into the soil. This is why athletes rip out chucks of grass/divots with every energetic step as they are playing their games. Don't just put the grass chunk back into the hole. Look at the root structure and take it back to your supervisor as you fill the divots with soil.

In my extensive experience in the synthetic turf industry, I continue to notice a common oversight among Installers… “Pock Marks”. Why are "Pock Marks" left behind from their hammering embeds(staples/nails) into the turfs surface still not being recognized? These small indentations, pits, or holes can significantly impact the quality of synthetic turf installations. It's crucial for frontline installers to understand the importance of properly securing synthetic turf to avoid creating "Pock Marks." Hammering staples and nails without clearing the fibers can lead to these unsightly imperfections. Additionally, excessive force when hammering can also cause pock marks, affecting the turf's appearance and performance. “ I recommend stretching, securing and placing infill for ballast in lieu of placing a boatload of embeds” JW For any questions or training needs on avoiding "Pock Marks" in synthetic turf installations, feel free to reach out at 888-846-3598. Let's ensure every installation meets the highest standards. #askjw #pockmarks #helpingotherssucceed
