Very interesting discussion here. I read through the comments and see there is some debate over the guys calculation on energy consumption and dam output, but I’d like to pose a few other questions. If the weight of batteries are 10,000 pounds(Tesla data) and the average truck weighs 17,000 pounds and gross weight without special endorsements is max 80,000 pounds per DOT regulations, you have just used 33% of the trucks capacity in the power train. Doesn’t this mean less effiecency to move freight? More trips and more trucks to move the same amount of freight. With that data here are more thoughts. 1. Shortage of drivers increases. 2. Cost of trucks increase. 3. How will roads hold up with the increased weight? 4. Can you use in all industries (hazmat or dangerous goods)? 5. Infrastructure to charge availability?
