For my first 3 weeks in Product Operations, I conducted a Discovery! 🕵♀️ I Interviewed 20+ product team members and cross-functional stakeholders 😅 My objective was to meet them on a human level, and then discuss our product processes from idea to launch to uncover areas of improvement. ⤴ In a global company of over 650 employees, meeting all of the product stakeholders takes some time and I am not done, a few remain! It has been a great learning journey 📚 : ☑ All of the new colleagues I met were very welcoming and open ☑ Everyone is very engaged in their role and in the success of the organization ☑ We reviewed where we could improve ☑ Many shared content so I could further educate myself My next step will be to incorporate myself into one or two product teams to experience firsthand how they work, their inputs and hand-offs, the tools they use, and the practices they follow. I'm also looking forward to collaborating with our GTM teams as they represent a key function to ensure increased adoption and shorter time to value for the features we launch to the market. Whew! Here we go again working on another project/product. The life of a product manager can be both exciting and challenging. Coordinating teams, collaborations, coordinating customer/user surveys, developing features-backlogs from user stories, sprint meetings, sprint reviews, and most especially motivating your team to perform. As a Product Manager, I don't care about my team's velocity. As a team member, I didn't care about my team's velocity. As a manager, I didn't care about my team's velocity. Velocity is a metric that measures output, and I care about outcomes. When teams are focused on velocity, they're not focused on meaningful goals. They're not measuring things that matter.
