🧡💛🧡 EXCITING NEW PROJECT🧡💛🧡 Sustainability has been a specialist interest of mine for about 7 years. It actually started with my upholstery but has moved through my whole life. I have slowly made changes and am still slowly making changes to be as sustainable as possible. But what does sustainability actually mean??? Well there is no such thing as ‘good for the planet’. Not really not yet. Not until big business and government pull their finger out and make systemic changes. But we can as individuals make choices that can minimise our impact. Our societies are inherently bad for the planet. (No such thing as carbon neutral if your product exists in a society that produces carbon) And when we make those better choices we show that we are keen to have the choice! Which hopefully means more industries will work towards giving us better ones. I have been waiting a long time for a more sustainable (ie less negatively impactful) modern upholstery options. And this proof of concept project will hopefully prove that I will be able to produce more affordable sustainable, chemical free modern upholstery. My plan does rely on me being able to bulk buy latex foam but that is definitely something I am moving towards. So excited for you to see this project!! The latest all-electric model from Škoda Auto will break a lot of new ground when it premieres in October. This includes the use of further advanced sustainable materials in the seats and upholstery – part of our commitment to a more sustainable future. ♻ The looks of the new Elroq are shaped by our Modern Solid design language, including the simplicity, spaciousness, and clean lines of the interior. Those qualities are enhanced by stylish new materials from recycled sources. There is some very cool technology involved, including: 🟢 Recytitan—a material comprising 78% recycled PET and, for the first time in Škoda models, recycled post-consumer clothing. The fibre blend undergoes processing without chemical treatments and is characterized by a perfect balance of comfort, durability, and sustainability. 🟢 Technofil - composed of 75% recycled ECONYL® fibres and 25% polyester. This innovative fabric reuses nylon waste, such as fishing nets, fabric scraps, and carpets destined for landfill, transforming them into new nylon yarn. ECONYL® nylon is also 100% regenerable, allowing yarns to be recycled, remoulded and respun repeatedly without ever losing #quality. I’m grateful that our design, procurement and production teams have taken another step towards our sustainability goals with the improved interior of the all-new Elroq.
