Never judge someone by their looks. Looks don't matter when your skills speak. No one will hire you if you don't have the skills that are required for the job. On the other hand, if you have the required skills that are required in the job role, 99% chances are that you'll be hired for that role without caring about your looks and fashion sense. It's very simple. Never judge someone by their looks without knowing anything about that person. Maybe that person is smarter and more intelligent than you. In local community chats on platforms like FB or Nextdoor- I see a bunch of older people looking for work on the side. The #1 thing I see from them is: “I’m not as expensive as most people out there, my work is cheap” What is the problem here? We as humans believe higher price = better quality. I.e: Balenciaga sells a potato chip bag as a purse… for $1500. Is the potato chip purse worth $1500? No. But people believe it is, as it sold out in mere minutes. Opportunities become scarce in a “competitively priced” market. You can do great work for a great price. The right kind of people will understand & pay you a premium. Back your high price up with unmatched results & opportunites will come TO YOU! P.S- the people I see posting to do work for cheap, genuinely do great work. But they struggle greatly getting clientele.

When you look at the image of me on the left, I don’t look confident, I don’t look stylish or pulled together and if I ran around town looking like this, let’s be honest, I would never be hired as a Personal Stylist! The image on the right reflects a woman who looks more confident, feels more confident, and is showing off her own personal style. I’m dressed, I’m comfortable, and I love the details on my blouse. The proportion with my shirt tucked is correct with the wideleg pants. My style is approachable, which speaks to who I am in life. THIS is a Personal Stylist people would hire. Unfortunately, these days, I see women walking around looking more like the image of me on the left than ever before. As an image strategist, I know that this is not only impacting how she is being perceived externally (only because that is a human behavior), but also internally.
