Case Study #74 | CRIAQ / Test rig for the development of new aircraft engine technologies - This mechanical assembly, produced in two copies, is a robotic unit that moves an arc-shaped shoe towards the blades of an aircraft engine compression stage. Not only is the precision at the limits of what is possible, but the force generated by this movement system is extremely high. The rotor is installed in a containment chamber that will be the subject of videos in the near future! In addition to temperature sensors to monitor possible overheating, a linear optical encoder and special devices to prevent dust contamination, this assembly is fitted with ultra-sensitive sensors to measure not only frictional forces but also vibrations generated during interaction with the rotor blades, which can reach speeds of over 20,000 RPM. At such rotational speeds, the data acquisition system is operated at extremely high frequencies to analyze the subtleties of vibratory phenomena!
