Lapland UAS provides #expertise and multidisciplinary, forward-looking applied research, developing sustainable and innovative solutions within regional, national, and international networks. Collaborates closely with the Regional Council of Lapland, making a significant contribution to regional development. Lapland UAS’ strategy includes several key priorities that align with the objectives of the #DEPART: 🏆 Identifying, predicting, and managing the ecological, societal, and economic impacts of Arctic tourism, while developing solutions that promote sustainability. 🏆 Identifying future service needs and designing innovative service solutions to address challenges related to accessibility, equity in education, and well-being in sparsely populated areas. "We are excited to share new activities on the HUMANITA project! Earlier this week, our partners from the University of Parma, Italy, visited us for a working session and completed the second drone recording of protected grasslands and the entire area of Lower Kamenjak, as well as the recording of an educational trail with a 360˙ camera. Through these recordings, we are monitoring the fragmentation of the soil in protected grasslands and the formation of wild paths. 🌱 With the HUMANITA project, we are researching the impact of tourist activities on protected areas, aiming to minimize human impact on the environment. ⚓Discover the Pilot Area “𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗱ø 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱” Vordingborg Kommune faces challenges in the planning and development of the two pilot areas "𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗻𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗱ø 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱". The aim for Vordingborg Municipality as a Host Partner of Connected River is to obtain attractiveness and new interest in the pilot areas which hopefully will result in new development, more activity and new recreational use of the southern waterfronts of the city. Since joining the European Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy in 2015, the city has been a beacon of European values and integration. 🌍 Aligned with its strategic goals to be an entrepreneurial, comfortable, safe, responsible, and accountable city, Khmelnytskyi is tackling urban challenges head-on. 🚀The PRO-CLIMATE project kicked-off! 📍On the 9th and 10th of January, the PRO-CLIMATE consortium met in Thessaloniki, Greece to take the initial steps in the development of the Horizon Europe project coordinated by Tero LTD! For our last check-in from our stay in Astypalea, we are bringing you a voice from the community! 🌿 Talking with us was Lambrini Grigori, a born and raised Astypalean and the Dean of Astypalea's Gymnasium. Like many islanders, she has spent the majority of her life in the community, with the exception of her university studies. Lamrini shared that, as with most novelties, people were skeptical at first about projects related to sustainability and e-mobility. However, external stakeholders and the local government ensured that the people were well informed about what was going on. 🤔 Reflecting on the introduction of e-mobility to Astypalea, she said: "This was a chance to show that although we are a small island and far apart from central Greece, we can become a role model. They explained to the people what this project is about, which helped us understand what it could bring to the island. Of course, we are a very small place, so we need to be very aware of the progress made because we want to maintain our traditional character, our picturesque island—we don't want this to change." 🔹️We believe that energy transition must be an inclusive process, not only a just one. This also means addressing concerns and working towards a shared vision - and that is why communities deserve a spotlight of their own.
