🚴♂️ How far would you cycle for £24 Billion? 🚴♂️ #EquityOfOpportunity #DiversityAndInclusion #EconomicGrowth #SocialMobility #Envision The McKinsey Report revealed that fostering diversity and equity in the workforce could add up to £24 billion to the UK’s GDP annually. This isn’t just theory—it’s backed by research. Companies with greater ethnic and racial diversity are 35% more likely to outperform their peers financially. But to build this diverse workforce, we need to start early. That’s why I’m cycling 220+ miles this September to raise £1,500 for Envision, a charity dedicated to empowering young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain equity of opportunity and level the playing field. By supporting their education and development, we’re not only transforming lives but also laying the groundwork for a more dynamic, competitive economy. Your support can help make this vision a reality. Donate Below Read more in "Diversity Wins: How Inclusion Matters" by McKinsey & Company. https://lnkd.in/e-MTpYzG

Attending Hestia’s Art is Freedom exhibition on 17th October was a powerful and unforgettable experience for our team at Ride For Freedom. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤! The exhibition was not only a celebration of resilience but also a testament to the strength of remedial programmes in transforming lives. 𝐃𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 —service users who took part in our Freewheel session six months ago and are still riding. Now, they stood proudly on stage, sharing their journeys and inspiring everyone around them. As our project manager Vicky expressed, “𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔. They see the impact that Freewheel has on survivors: offering not only a cycling experience but a lifeline to self-worth, mental well-being, and independence. 𝐄𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟. The smiles from these survivors reminded us why this work matters. Freewheel is about more than just cycling—it’s about restoring dignity, building confidence, and fostering hope. But to continue this journey, we need your support. If you’d like to get involved or sponsor a session, please reach out to our team at info@rideforfreedom.org Join us in transforming more lives, helping survivors lead empowered and independent futures. #RideForFreedom #EndModernSlavery #Freewheel #CycleRevolution #ArtIsFreedom #Remediation #Empowerment #Sponsor #LoveCycling #Support

🤪Cycling, jogging, walking 500K by Xmas? You must be bonkers, I hear you say!! Well, yes if you know me, you'll know I am a little bonkers! 🙌🏼But, don't worry, it's not just me walking the 500K, it's my team of fab 5km'ers. 👏We are raising vital funds for Radical Recruit who support people furthest away from the labour market, into sustainable, well-paid work. 😱It should shock us all that people experiencing homelessness, the care-system or who have a disability face these barriers, but it's true! 👿And don't get me started on the barriers highly motivated prison-leavers face, trying to re-enter the employment market. 🎉And, if co-CEO's Emma Freivogel and Kirsty Palmer as well as Holly R. can commit to walking or jogging 50 x 5kms, then, as a Trustee of Radical Recruit, there's no way I'm not getting involved! 🙌🏼So, here's how each of my “Fran's team” members are doing: 👏Sarah Mills will be walking 20 x 5km's (100km) 👏Evelyn Kaluza will be jogging, cycling or walking 20 x 5km's (100km) 👏Fran Borg-Wheeler from Heart-Centred Leaders (that's me!! ) will be cycling, jogging or walking 21 x 5km's (105km) 👏Carmel M. will be walking 10 x 5km's (50km) 👏Emilia Silvas will be walking or cycling 10 x 5km's (50km) 👏Lucinda Parr will be walking 9 x 5km's (45km) What a spectacular effort team!! One more great piece of 🎉news... 🥳Aviva are match funding all donations up to £250 each. So any sponsorship you kindly donate will go double the distance. 🙋♀️If you, like me, look to make donations around Xmas time/the end of the year ? and 🙋♀️You want your money to make a real difference? 🙌🏼Then, look no further!! 📣Here's the sponsorship link 👇 PS: I would be so grateful if you could take 30 secs to sponsor team Fran !! Even a fiver counts so no donation is too small. https://lnkd.in/ehv4TZ95

I wrote an article for Shift Up Now, sharing the importance of having high expectations of others, different kinds of biases, and my definitions of implicit and explicit allies. Would love to know your thoughts on this, and feel free to share other related ideas!
Do you think about the Power of expectations? Or the power of implicit and explicit bias, or implicit and explicit allies? Julia Landauer takes on this subject, and breaks it down on the latest #ShiftUpNow blog, sharing some of the stories from her career, and how her Championship winning season started with a team, and team owner who chose to believe in her. https://lnkd.in/d2fbtuAm Take some time over your coffee today to give this a read, and if you want to become an Ally, please consider becoming a Member or making a donation to our 501c3. 💙 #WomenInMotorsport #DrivingChange #BeatingTheBias

This is not the post I wanted to write today. I hoped to share the news that 2025 would finally be my year to run the Bank of America Boston Marathon. Instead, I found out I was not selected in the special lottery for runners who have completed at least four of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. But this is not the end of the story, Boston is still calling. I first dreamed of Boston at 15 years old when I attended AIM High Running Camp. BILL RODGERS, the legendary four-time Boston champion was the featured speaker. Listening to him describe his journey, the history, and the magic of the marathon lit a fire in me. From that moment, running the Boston Marathon became a goal that has stayed with me through every mile I have run since. In 2020, I trained and raised funds with Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired for the Boston Marathon, ready to make that dream a reality. When the race was canceled due to the pandemic, I ran the virtual marathon instead. I finished, though slowly, but the experience was bittersweet. For over a year, I lost the love I had always felt for running. Finding my way back to running has been a magical journey. Since then, I have completed all five of the other World Marathon Majors: Chicago in 2019, Berlin in 2023, and Tokyo, London, and New York City in 2024. Along the way, I have raised over $25,000 for various nonprofit organizations. Each race has been about more than crossing a finish line. It has been about making a difference and being part of something bigger than myself. These races reignited my passion for running and reminded me of everything it has given me: community, purpose, and the ability to create positive change. Boston will happen one day. Until then, I will keep running, keep striving, and keep celebrating the incredible community that inspires me every step of the way. If you have a dream you are chasing, I encourage you to keep going. The path may not always go as planned, but it can still take you somewhere extraordinary. To the running and philanthropy communities, thank you for reminding me what it means to turn effort into impact. The road to Boston continues, one mile at a time. #BostonMarathon #WorldMarathonMajors #MarathonJourney #RunningCommunity #BostonStrong

We knew he was one of us when he replied.... "discipline, to be humble, to be prepared, to complain less about the small things in life." This was in response to the question, "what does endurance teach you?" BarrUltra Racing member, Georgi Stoychev is currently about 320 miles into the non-stop, unsupported, 629 mile North Star Bicycle race. Georgi's one of our most versatile riders, skilled in both supported and unsupported racing. His longest unsupported race to date has been Bike Non-Stop US, a mere 3475-miles, where he came in third! That's a serious and strong ride so you'd be forgiven for thinking that 629 miles is a 'pedal in the park.' Not so, the North Star Bicycle race describes itself as a 'battle by bicycle', and I know that Georgi is ready to bring it, now that we've refined his fuelling and hydration strategy. Those mentoring hours, one of the many benefits that come with a Racing membership, sure do come in handy 😊 ▶ ▶ ▶ If you've got ultra-ambitions and need experience and expertise on your side or a whole team to cheer your dot when you race, check out everything that BarrUltra offer. #WeAreBarrUltra https://lnkd.in/e5gRGzCf
