I second this recommendation!
Come join my team! We are looking for a new Director of Career Services at the Maurer School of Law. This role provides one-on-one career advising to law students, leads career development programming, and maintains and reports data on career outcomes. Our colleagues are wonderful - we support one another and have fun together - and our students are truly exceptional and amazing to work with. The position reports to me and is a part of our larger student services team. We are looking for a JD or someone with a master’s degree in higher education or a related field and at least two years of experience in career counseling or a related field. We prefer someone with a higher education, legal recruiting, or legal practice background. https://lnkd.in/gMXTreQs

Have you thought about what drives employees at Douglas College? Hear from one of our current employees, Kate Tran, who works as a Student Support Navigator in the Student Affairs & Services department discussing why she loves working with students! • Why I LOVE what I DO: I get to work directly with students and build relationships. A majority of my case management of students are youth in/from care, so I am grateful to be in a position where I can actively help navigate barriers that they have been up against their whole lives. • Favourite Thing About My Job: Getting to hear the student wins. When they call me or stop by my office to share a positive experience is always gratifying. Hearing about a good grade on an exam, a successful grant appeal, having found secure housing, a job etc. So often I’m putting out fires for students that when we come across a success, so I’m riding that wave for as long as I can! • Did You Know? a) I’m a bit shy right off the bat, but very warm and excitable once we get the handshake and name introductions out of the way. b) You will always find miscellaneous post-its and my daily emotional-support Tim Horton’s steeped tea on my desk. c) Sometimes I prefer working in dim lighting and some wonder why I look like Gollum in a dark cave.

Seeking Product Management Opportunities | Driving Transformative Growth through Data-Driven Insights and User-Centric Innovation | Committed to Turning Businesses Profitable and Elevating User Experiences.
Thrilled to share that I’m starting a new position as a Course Assistant Grader under Prof Andrew Gouldstone at Northeastern University! 🎉 Getting a job at NEU isn’t easy—everyone says you need luck, and they’re right, but I’d add that it’s also about timing and persistence. I received this offer earlier this year during my co-op, but due to NEU’s protocols, I couldn’t take it at the time. As July came around, I started reaching out to Necol Sosa who had offered me the position before. And by reaching out, I mean I followed up a lot. Here’s the thing: most people give up after a few emails or show up a few times, maybe three or four times. But I had a different mindset (not boasting, but I genuinely needed a chance to serve the community). I was determined, and I stayed consistent, emailing every 3-4 days, and this continued until the end of August. Finally, a month later, I got a response that turned everything around. Sosa offered me the role, and after a conversation with Professor Andrew, I officially landed the position! This is the first—and maybe last—chance I’ll have to serve the NEU students and faculty directly, and I couldn’t be happier to add value where I can. Lesson for other students: Don’t give up after the first few tries. Sometimes, all it takes is the right follow-up at the right time. Persistence really can make a difference. Here’s to a new chapter at NEU! 💼 If you’re an employer seeking a product manager, let’s have a chat about the role. #NortheasternUniversity #Persistence #OnCampusJobs #KeepGoing

Overseeing two of our Cedarville Admissions student teams is the most rewarding aspect of my position. The ability to create a culture that hopefully students want to be a part of and building relationships with them is invaluable! But all of that starts with hiring effectively. Here’s what I’ve learned: If you’re in a management role, know how you’re willing and able to invest in your team and let that drive your hiring decisions, even more than a candidate’s technical ability. Of course you want the most qualified candidate, but “qualified” is more subjective than a checkbox of skills. No candidate is perfect and neither are you. Your responsibility is not to avoid all weak points, but assess what weak points you can handle in your team and commit yourself to building into them. The most crucial question I’ve asked myself is: What do I have the time, desire, and skills to build into? At the end of the day, different leaders hire different types of people because of their answer to this question. And in different seasons and for different roles, this may be different! In my opinion, technical ability can be taught; authenticity, transparency, and self-motivation can not (in most cases). If Candidate A is weaker than Candidate B in technical skills but hits these marks, and I have the time, desire, and skills to invest in refining those skills, then Candidate A is a sure choice for me.
