I’m Thrilled to share my recent project presentation on tackling food scarcity! 🌱 Contributing to UN SDG Goal 2: Zero Hunger 🌍 In our quest to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger, my team and I recently delivered an entrepreneurial presentation titled "Using Innovative Agricultural Techniques to Combat Food Scarcity." Our project focuses on leveraging cutting-edge agricultural practices and sustainable solutions to address food scarcity, ensuring access to nutritious food for all. From innovative farming methods to sustainable resource management, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact in tackling one of the world's most pressing challenges. This journey has been a testament to the power of teamwork, creativity, and the drive to make a difference. With more than 10 years of experience in Agricultural sector, I have seen and experienced the main challenges facing the agricultural industry around the world, such as: food insecurity, climate change, biodiversity loss, water scarcity, soil degradation, increase in the incidence of pests and diseases, these problems not only affect our sector but all sectors of economy, some are still in a moment of reflection, however True Change Markers are taking action. Agriculture of the future will be conditioned by the way we manage our agricultural operations mainly, this includes an equitable distribution of land and resources, the analysis of agricultural production variables independently, relying on essential frameworks or pillars to take into account as: sustainability, productivity, profitability and resilience, we must also guarantee fair and adequate legislation, develop an intelligent fight against climate change and adapt our agri-food systems to climate variations, in addition to promoting innovation and the use of new technologies, we must combine science with traditionality, and that there is a fair balance between them. I always remain open to collaboration, to new commercial and business associations, to providing my support where required, when my contribution is significant and useful, and helps develop the industry, I feel that my legacy is being extraordinary, even when the deployment of my actions in some cases has a smaller scope. Iona Thomas hosted positive discussions between AgriZeroNZ and an Innovate UK delegation on how UK & New Zealand innovators can collaborate to accelerate new tools to reduce agricultural emissions. AgriZeroNZ is a world-first partnership between the New Zealand government and major agribusiness companies to rapidly reduce emissions, and the UK delegation gained the benefit of insight from this Kiwi organisation with a global perspective. #Agritech is a rapidly growing sector, and teams from both countries see the efficiency and profitability gains in commercialising new technologies for uptake on-farm. Agritech is one of 5 priority themes in the UK / NZ Science Work Programme, and the UK in New Zealand policy, trade, climate change and science teams have worked for many years in this important cooperation theme, so it's amazing to see promising UK / NZ collaborations start to scale. Looking forward to sharing new success stories in 2025! A thriving and sustainable agribusiness sector is critical to the achievement of nine of the 2030 development goals, including the elimination of poverty and hunger. In a meeting we had with the directors of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, everyone agreed that achieving sustainable productivity and food security can only be achieved by presenting novel ideas through analyzing past knowledge.
