This is a great visual by PJ Milani, and it got me thinking about how this is the case in insurance products. Here's a brief example: What We See: A new insurtech's beautiful apply-quote-bind flow where insureds can get an instant quote after filling out 15 questions. What We Don't See: The 20 fronting carriers, 60 reinsurers, 15 iterations of the rating model, 260 document templates, 200 questions-long application version, 5 other distribution channels that completely failed to deliver, 3 iterations with the reinsurers and carriers to completely change the underwriting model and adjust it for this short 15 questions flow, 24 engineering sprints to build each of the 3 iterations, and 2-3 different policy admin systems that dragged along trying to keep up with the pace of change before the MGA ran out of steam. #InsurTech #Insurance #Joshu
