#funfridays You enter your hotel room, armed with nothing but a suitcase and high hopes. Suddenly, you're staring at a control panel that NASA would envy. "Just a light," you mutter. But with every switch you flick, the room transforms. First, the curtains start dancing, then the TV channels surf themselves. You feel like a wizard, minus the magical powers. "Ah, this one looks promising," you think. Wrong. The air conditioning kicks in, turning your cozy room into an Arctic expedition. You try another switch, and surprise, it's the minibar inventory – fascinating, but not helpful. By now, you're part of an unscheduled workout session, jumping from switch to switch. Room service checks in, asking if you're hosting a disco. You give up, deciding to embrace this carnival of chaos. So, there you are, tucked in bed, every light in the room proudly blazing like it's Times Square on New Year's Eve, snuggled up in every piece of clothing you own, because it's minus 20 degrees in there.

Space has always fascinated me. As a child growing up in the 80's , starting with Star Trek (Yes , I saw the transition from Black and White to Colour), then Project UFO and finally Cosmos by Carl Sagan. These series were all about unleashing the imagination about the sheer infiniteness of space. Much later I saw the video about the Pale Blue Dot -Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of Earth taken on February 14, 1990, by the Voyager 1 space probe from an unimaginable distance of 6 billion kilometers. It was this picture that led Carl Sagan to say "Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand" On World Asteroid Day - let us take 2 important messages for all of us 1.
