Unlike for my cat 😻 , for Dutch software development companies language is a big deal 😉 .
Google says that almost 85% of Dutch software companies are all about English. 👏
I wish it was true, as English opens the doors to the right talents worldwide (also in Ukraine 💛💙), sets up standards for communication and documentations, and, as a result, adds up to scalability and maintainability of the software development projects.
Still, about 15% of software companies in the NL are sticking to Dutch. Maybe it's for that cozy vibe or because their clients prefer it? 🤷♀️
Well, I can imagine that usage of Dutch language in the software company appeals to local job market and fosters stronger bond within the team, especially in industries with specific local needs. 🙌
However, I am a bit overwhelmed by the idea that software developers have to speak Dutch, because they also combine development work with consulting clients. 🤔
Hiring a software developer in the Netherlands is already a challenge, let alone a developer, who has good communication skills and subject matter knowledge!
I believe everyone should stick to what they are good at:🐈 cats hunt mice, developers build software 👨💻 and consultants engage with customers 🗣. Agree?
