In the last couple of months we took a more community building oriented approach to our games. We now have a central experience, called UGC Avatar Fashion Catalog Outlet where we sell ugc items and drop lots of free limited UGC items. A ranking system where user with bigger engagement have bigger rewards is central to the Outlet. Player engagement can come from different sources, including (1) inside the experience itself by trying different outfits, (2) collecting badges from our other games, (3) on our Discord servers and lately on our (4) weekly Youtube streams! For instances, players level 5 or above on our discord servers have a 30% bonus on all in-game currency rewards. So far, we have been able to see some interesting results. During the last two weeks we did a big valentines/carnival/super bowl event which had a combined 20 000+ DAU in our games, an average increase of 30%. We also saw an increase of 40% in weekly sales. Let me get this straight. XDefiant, with a small team of developers, has faced several issues that led to a mass player boycott. In contrast, Call of Duty, backed by a team of around 4,000 developers, seems to generate only a fraction of the same level of criticism. This discrepancy raises important questions about community engagement and player loyalty. Why is it that a smaller title can incite such a strong reaction while a massive franchise like CoD goes relatively unscathed? During the opening keynote, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy announced several updates to the platform: 🚀 Mobile App Evolution: As over 70% of new viewers access Twitch via mobile, Dan announced that improvements are coming. The app’s new updates will make it easier to find channels, enhance video play, and improve navigation. Thumbnails, better VOD access, and the ability to follow categories are also coming to the Following tab in October. 🎥 Clips Made Easier: A new Clip Carousel will let streamers share moments from their streams on social media. Mobile users can now create portrait clips, making it easier to capture those highlights. 💬 Shared Chat: (My personal fav) Collaborating creators can now merge their chats with up to 6 streamers, bringing their communities closer together. This feature will roll out next week, enhancing collaborations and fostering connections between streamers’ audiences. ⚖️ Improved Enforcement System: Twitch is giving more clarity on Chat violations, allowing creators to see the exact infraction and appeal if necessary. Strikes will also start expiring over time for low-severity violations, helping streamers avoid permanent penalties for minor infractions. 🌍 Globalizing Guilds: The Twitch Guild program, designed to foster growth and support among creators, will expand globally in 2025.
