Our Q2 2024 edition of MedDevNews. An uptick in interventional cardio M&A activity so far this year (in the wake of advancements and commercial traction in transcatheter heart valves and coronary calcium cracking) while orthopedics, CMO and a few others have been a bit quieter overall. Expectations are that the 18-24 month long inventory burn-down by OEMs in orthopedics and some other areas should level off by Q1 2025 and CDMO revenues should pick up by that point. Financings remain slow overall but activity remains for rapidly-growing commercial stage companies with over ~$7-8 mm in revenues. Many buyers and investors are in wait-and-see mode with upcoming election. Public market continues to penalize unprofitable companies and an IPO window doesn't appear likely until at least into 2025. The end of 2025 expiration of the 2017 tax cuts has begun to spur discussions about exits and subject to election results, we expect to see an uptick in sales processes and exit timing evaluations well before the new Congress meets in 2025 to discuss cap gains rates.
