One of the Dragons from Dragons' Den publicly shamed me. When I started developing Relax Kids in 1999, there didn't seem to be anything like it. No one was teaching mindfulness and meditation to children back then. Teachers and parents raised their eyebrows at the thought of children needing this. After going on Dragons' Den in 2005, I attended a talk given by one of the Dragons. It was titled. 'How to be a good entrepreneur' The Dragon was using pitches as examples. The Dragon then said 'There was this one lady who had the idea to turn fairy stories into meditations for children. She was lovely, she was a great entrepreneur but had a terrible idea. This is an example of knowing when to ditch a bad idea and move on.' At the Question Time section, I stood up and explained I was the lady who did meditations. I went on stage and said.. 'Thank you for saying I'm lovely, thank you for saying I'm a good entrepreneur. I'm actually terrible at business but I have a good idea that has gone from strength to strength.' Dragons can be wrong. Believe in yourself! The lesson here is that even successful people like Dragons can be wrong. Don't let anyone's criticism or negativity diminish your self-belief. Keep pursuing your dreams and you never know where they will take you. #selfbelief #dragonsden #business #mentalhealth
