🌟 This Labor Day, Let's Reimagine Opportunity 🌟 As we honor the hardworking people across our nation, let's also remember those who face significant hurdles when re-entering the workforce: members of our community who have been incarcerated. Finding a job is tough enough, but securing one that pays a livable wage during their prime earning years is even harder. Despite efforts around "second-chance hiring" and a robust job market, over 60% of individuals returning to the community after experiencing incarceration are still unemployed after a year, primarily due to being held back by stigma and the barriers associated with having a record. This Labor Day, let's pledge to break down these barriers. By advocating for inclusive hiring practices and supporting programs that offer training and resources, we can provide fair chances to those eager to contribute to our society. Everyone deserves a fair chance. Let's work together to make that happen.
