#AccessbyDesign - During the course of our (what seems like never-ending) home renovation, one conversation on water meters and their readability has stuck with me. As background for those of you that are not water metering gurus, if I have understood correctly (which I admit I might not have), appartment-level water metering is a must in Finland for properties that undergo plumbing renovation. Now, not only do the meters have to provide real-time remote readings, but the residents themselves must be able to get readings from, e.g., a display on the meter. So what was the conversation about? It was on whether a display which could only be read using a mirror pushed into a very small slit between a wall and the meter could be seen to fulfil the requirement of "readable by the resident". I argued "no". Thank goodness this conversation took place during the planning phase and we were able to alter the plans before executing them. Please, please, please don't make me have the same conversation in a #DataAct context! :D
