"How can I help?" I recently went through a DISC assessment at work. No big surprise that I came up as an S/C - Supportive and Cautious. Helpful and methodical and open were key words describing people in the S/C areas. This year I became a founding member of the Community Champion Council at CareFirst. We area cross functional group of employees who are showing up in the communities CareFirst serves by volunteering our time, our skills, and in some cases our network. It was a natural extension of my work with CareFirst as a voice of the member insights leader. One way the "How can I help?" has been showing up in my day to day life isn't one I'm thrilled about. It is colleagues and friends who are being laid off or downsized or having to rebuild a career after many loyal years to a company and industry. So as I try to think "How can I help?" I wonder what is the most helpful? 1. Introductions to people in my network that may have a spoke or branch to another opportunity? 2. Linking and/sharing job opportunities that arise even if they aren't completely targeted to the seeker? 3. Conversations about what we see when hiring? What else? Finally, if you have a position for someone in the manager or higher level feel free to post it in the comments. It isn't direct but I'd like to say "How can I help?"
