Thanks to everyone who attended last night's annual open house at the Greensfelder Recreation Complex at Queeny Park. Great turnout and they had to kick us out of the place because we were having too much fun. 😆 Special thanks to Don Gerling and his team at St. Louis County Parks and Recreation for their support of the event. 2025 is our 60th anniversary, help us celebrate it by taking part in our 60 for 60 Challenge! MLK Act of SERvice: Help us raise money for our Community Garden at Rochester Prep! Share and donate at the link below! add the promo code LIFTOFF at checkout and your donations will be doubled up to $50 for the next 7 days! We honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by fighting for Environmental justice! All produce grown will be distributed to students and families to help close the gap of access to healthy and nutritious foods! WHY: "Around 9% of Monroe County residents are living with food insecurities and nearly every city neighborhood is a food desert...Food deserts mean that people don't have easy access to grocery stores and affordable nutritious foods." "In the 2021 Racial and Structural Equity Commission Report, affordability and lack of access to fresh produce was deemed a factor of health disparities with Black and People of Color (BIPOC) communities in Rochester and Monroe County. The report also mentions that residents living with obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure frequently reference food access and cost as major challenges." https://lnkd.in/gitdu5Sk

A New Year, A Renewed Call to Give Together As we step into 2025, we’ve already been reminded of the power and importance of community. The recent tragedies in New Orleans and Los Angeles have jolted us collectively, reminding us how fragile life is and how much stronger we are when we come together. In moments like these, philanthropy isn’t just about individual action—it’s about collective giving. When we pool our resources, we multiply our impact, ensuring that communities receive the support they need to heal and rebuild. If you’re looking for ways to contribute, consider giving to trusted community foundations: ➡️ Greater New Orleans Foundation (supporting relief efforts in New Orleans) ➡️ California Community Foundation (addressing critical needs in Los Angeles) #BlackBridgePhilanthropic #CollectiveGiving #CommunityImpact #Philanthropy #NewYearNewImpact #pooledfunds #Collaboration

Below is my interesting biometric WHOOP data for July 4th, a day that included working an 8-hour shift as a Sauna Master. Executive Brief: You burn a shocking number of calories spending that much time in the sauna. Why? Increased heart rate, sweating, thermoregulation, elevated metabolism, post-sauna calorie burn as the body works harder to cool down and return to a normal state. Job Responsibilities: Ensured the wood-burning sauna was kept warm with optimal humidity. Entertained guests in the sauna with stories and sauna facts. Kept cold plunge stocked with ice. Whoop Data: Strain: 19.4 (strain between 18 and 21 represents near maximal cardiovascular load). Calories Burned: 5,135 Average Heart Rate: 94 (30-day average is 73 bpm) Resting Hear Rate: 75 (30-day average is 59 bpm) Heart Rate Variability: 61 ms (30-day average is 62)
At Sauna House, we are passionate about building community and giving back. As a 1% for the Planet member, we support organizations like the Eno River Association, an accredited land trust and conservation nonprofit dedicated to conserving and protecting the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River Basin. Recently, we held our first mobile sauna activation in Durham, North Carolina, during the Festival for the Eno. We offered free sauna and cold plunge sessions to the community while supporting a great cause. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with our community members before our Durham bathhouse opens this September. We look forward to more exciting activations this summer to spread good vibes and give back. ❤️ #DurhamNC #SaunaHouse #Community #CommunityBuilding

June is National Homeownership Month, and we're celebrating by sharing research, statistics and evidence all month long on why Home is the Key to a better present and brighter future. First off, we wanted to take a look at who has access to homeownership. Check out this research series from Habitat for Humanity investigating the trends in homeownership, including how factors such as race play a role. Annual Fundraising for Park Foundations, Friends Groups, and Conservancies: Creating Impact: How Park Foundations Support and Serve Communities In this section, I want you to provide specific examples of how your park foundation has addressed and will continue to address problems and challenges, as well as meet the unmet needs of local residents by being a strategic partner to the public agency. This can include details about the programs offered, services provided for people in need, and how the Park Foundation assists the public lands and recreation agency. https://lnkd.in/gKPp3Mft There may be some overlap between the roles of the Parks Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Department, or the Public Lands and Recreation Agency. Just do your best to differentiate, and spend some time with me during virtual office hours so I can help you with this. #ParkFoundation #PublicAgencySupport #CommunityPrograms #RecreationServices #StrategicPartnership #PublicLands #CommunityNeeds #NonprofitSupport #LocalResidents #RecreationAgency #VirtualOfficeHours

In collaboration with The Conference Board, Brooks Reed, CAP®, VP of Thought Leadership & Philanthropy at CAF America recently had the privilege of hosting the "Providing a Roadmap for Disaster Response" webinar with Raquel Weintraub, COO at CADENA A.C.. The discussion delved into creating impactful global disaster response strategies that ensure targeted support reaches communities in need. Key takeaways from the session included: 🔶The crucial role of shared platforms in building donor trust and ensuring the integrity of donations during crises. 🔶The importance of funding localized response efforts within a broader global strategy. 🔶Practical ways to streamline disaster response philanthropy and foster long-term community resilience. We extend our gratitude to CADENA and The Conference Board for partnering with us on this critical topic. We are proud of our shared impact and ongoing collaboration to address critical needs around the world and strengthen community resilience. Missed the webinar?
