OpenBOM for Autodesk Fusion – Support Design Configurations 🚀 In the modern product design world, managing complexity is key to staying ahead. Recently Autodesk Fusion introduced new Design Configurations feature, allowing designers to easily handle multiple product variants. At OpenBOM, we support multiple CAD environment and always aligned with whatever new features coming in CAD systems to support customer workflow. We made OpenBOM fully integrated with Fusion and, from the next release,we offers seamless support for Fusion Design Configuration feature, to support a process to generate and manage BOMs across different design variants. 🔧✨ How to do so? Setting up Design Configurations in OpenBOM is straightforward. Start by defining Part Numbers for each configuration in Fusion. This ensures that your BOMs accurately reflect each design variant. Once your configurations are set, generating BOMs is a breeze—just use the advanced BOM menu to create tailored BOMs for each product version. If you need to make adjustments, you can easily delete and regenerate BOMs as needed. 📝✅ To see how it all works, check out our demo video that walks you through the process step by step. 🎥 With OpenBOM’s support for Design Configurations, you can confidently tackle even the most complex design projects, knowing that your BOMs are accurate and up-to-date. That is the only place where productivity is paramount. You can have all the PLM/MBE gurus debating data management, but it does not add one smidgen of productivity to the design process. Top down or In-Context modeling is the most productive feature of 3D CAD. Most systems tout this, but each part is still an external part. We are talking about a single model or multi-object design environment. Both systems we represent offer this as the "normal" design process. Thereby increasing your productivity 20 to 30%. In these exercises I not only focus on modeling techniques, but also on much more productive systems to do our designs. I hope you enjoy them and learn something. If you are in management, understand that all 3D CAD systems are not the same. Cutting your engineering costs is very simple. Even your legacy data is not a problem. Please feel free to give me a call. There are millions of man hours wasted every day with poor modeling techniques and ineffective 3D CAD systems that are costing a fortune.
