We are seeing customers who are looking to automate their palletizing process because there is a shortage of labor in the industry and when they can find labor it is very expensive. The concerns these customers are expressing to us is they need a solution that's affordable and fits into a very small footprint. At TopTier we can address both of those concerns. One of the ways we can make this an affordable solution is we combine the stretch wrapper into the palletizer. So as we build the load, we're actually stretch wrapping it. This also helps us with making a small footprint. This company reduced their shipping damage by 80% using a simple packaging hack. VanMoof, a Dutch bicycle company, was having a tough time because their bikes were fragile. When they shipped their products to customers, they noticed that they were arriving damaged. Their bicycle cost $3000 and they were losing a lot of money on damaged deliveries. They knew they needed to do something different with their packaging, so they came up with a smart and cost-effective solution. Instead of just using sturdier boxes or thicker insulation, they came up with something even better. A clever packaging (see image) What’s your first impression of the box? That it contains a television, right? That’s exactly what shippers thought. They thought that they were transporting flat-screen TVs and became more careful. Sometimes, coming up with unconventional ideas can pay off big time. VanMoof saw an impressive 80% drop in damages on their deliveries. Package design = God mode. A Dutch bicycle company, VanMoof was losing money due to careless delivery drivers. Customers where upset that their bikes were all dinged up and damaged upon delivery. If you were VanMoof, what would you do in this scenario? 👉 Use sturdier boxes 👉 Thicker insulation 👉 Put 'fragile' on the box VanMoof decided to take a much more creative, and cost-effective, approach to this problem. They created new packaging that resembled a flat-screen TV box, a product known for being handled delicately during shipping. This innovative approach led to an 80% reduction in shipping damages. Despite the unconventional packaging, VanMoof maintains transparency by clearly labeling the actual contents on each box. Innovator Highlight Mercedes-Benz Makes Last-Mile Delivery More Sustainable Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new logistics solution, a demonstrator that combines its eSprinter vans with e-cargo bikes to sustainably handle last-mile deliveries. The concept was created in partnership with Onomotion, a German cargo bike manufacturer. The eSprinter van acts as a mobile micro-depot that brings rectangular containers filled with pre-packaged goods and transfers them to cargo bikes that take them to the front door. The transfer takes a few minutes, minimizing idle times. Afterward, the van continues to the next bike or back to the warehouse for a refill.
