As a Program Manager, are your project teams applying robust software engineering practices? What software engineering risks are present on your program? 𝐴𝑑 ℎ𝑜𝑐 𝑠𝑜𝑓𝑡𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑒𝑛𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑡 𝑠𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑐𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑓𝑡𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑡𝑠, 𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑡𝑜 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑛𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑜𝑟 𝑏𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝑓𝑢𝑛𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦, 𝑐𝑦𝑏𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑐𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑔𝑎𝑝𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑝𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑘𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒. By uncovering potential software engineering risks and guiding project managers in managing those risks, a Program Manager can avert problems that might block program success. Organizations without rigorous software engineering practices in common usage are prone to software engineering behaviors that introduce risks. • Code residing solely in an individual's file system, not in a version control system (e.g., GitHub). • Manually configuring or updating production platforms on the fly, with a lack of change and version control. • And don't get me started on growing technical debt! The presence of inadequate software engineering practices is a call to leadership action by the Program Manager. Coach and guide Project Managers and technical leads in these three difficult but necessary actions: • 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲'𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 (e.g., GitHub) and require all production changes to be under version control. • 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 (e.g., MS-Teams, Google WorkSpace). Abandon email as the method of exchanging documents! • 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐛𝐭. We all know this is a problem, so implement methods that will allocate capacity. Ensure high visibility and discussion on any new technical debt proposed to be introduced. If your programs (and their projects) already have sturdy software engineering practices, then my congratulations to you! What are some of the best practices used by your teams? Working in IT support as part of a project team is particularly motivating because it places you in a critical role where your expertise directly influences the success of the project. In this position, you’re not just solving problems; you’re ensuring that the foundational technology behind the project runs smoothly, allowing the team to focus on achieving their goals. As the IT specialist on a project team, you’re often the go-to person when challenges arise, whether it’s troubleshooting issues, configuring systems, or ensuring that the technology infrastructure aligns with project needs. This responsibility is both exciting and rewarding, as your work is essential to keeping the project on track. The team relies on your ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues, and your contributions help prevent delays and ensure that everyone can work efficiently. Collaboration is another key aspect of this role. By working closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders, you gain a deep understanding of the project’s objectives and can tailor your support to meet those specific needs. This collaborative environment allows you to grow professionally, learn from others, and share your own knowledge, creating a continuous learning experience that enhances your skills. The impact of your work is often immediate and visible—when you resolve a critical issue or optimize a system, you can see the positive effects on the project’s progress. This direct connection between your efforts and the project’s success provides a strong sense of accomplishment and purpose, making your role in IT support on a project team both challenging and fulfilling. #Sabic #EUS #Supporting #Porject #Teamwork #IT

If you are looking for specific quotas, it's essential to consider the project's unique requirements, budget, and schedule. For large organizations, project managers often establish time and resource quotas based on their historical data and past projects. Smaller teams or individual developers may set their quotas based on their capacity and experience. #appdevelopment #androiddevelopment #iosappdevelopment #wearedevelopers #customdevelopment #itsolutionsprovider

Is your software engineer struggling to meet deadlines? 🤔 The real problem might not be their skills. There’s a common myth in the tech world: “Bad software engineers take longer to develop.” But here’s the truth: More often than not, it’s the Project Manager's approach that’s slowing things down. Here's why: 1️⃣ Clear Requirements: Engineers thrive on clarity. Well-documented requirements eliminate confusion and prevent delays. Without detailed specs, engineers waste time guessing instead of building. 2️⃣ Understanding Engineers: Great PMs know how engineers think, enabling smooth communication and quick problem-solving. 3️⃣ Effective Communication: Aligning workflows and progress updates ensures teams stay on track. 4️⃣ Knowing the Environment: Engineers need to understand where the software will be used to avoid costly rework. A skilled Project Manager ensures engineers have everything they need to deliver their best work. 💻✨ #ProjectManagement #TechLeadership #EngineeringExcellence #SoftwareEngineering #AgileManagement #TeamEfficiency #ProductivityTips #ClearCommunication

Time management isn’t about doing everything; it’s about doing the right things at the right time. 🕒 In the fast-paced world of IT, mastering time management can make the difference between a productive day and a stressful one. Here’s how it plays out across different IT streams: Development: A software developer prioritizes fixing critical bugs over adding new features, ensuring a stable release. By focusing on what's essential, they meet deadlines without compromising on quality. Support Projects: In support roles, managing time effectively means responding to high-priority incidents first, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery for clients. IT Infrastructure: An infrastructure engineer schedules system updates during off-peak hours. This strategic timing minimizes disruptions and ensures a smooth operation. IT Cloud Projects: Cloud engineers focus on automating routine tasks like backups and monitoring, freeing up time to innovate and enhance cloud architecture. IT Project Management: A project manager knows that prioritizing project milestones over less critical tasks is key to delivering projects on time and within scope. Effective time management in IT is about making smart choices that drive success. It’s not about doing it all—it's about doing what matters most. 🚀 @SoftwareDevelopers @ProjectManagers @CloudArchitects @ITSupport @TechLeaders #TimeManagement #ITProjects #Productivity #SoftwareDevelopment #ITSupport #CloudComputing #ProjectManagement #InfrastructureManagement #Efficiency #Leadership #TechLife #WorkSmart #ITLeadership
