🛣️ Today we would like to introduce you to #Route25: Agenda for Autonomous, Intelligent, Interoperable and Inclusive Mobility. 🚗 The Route 25 project, which is based on the principle of "bringing #Portugal to the forefront of human and #sustainable #transport #technology", aims at placing the Portuguese industry at the top of the #mobility value chain, making it ready to shape the future of mobility. It is being developed by a consortium led by Capgemini and of which #Openvia is a member, among other public and private companies. 🌐 In an era of rapid technological advances and the need for sustainable transport, the project stands out as a beacon of #innovation. This initiative is committed to the future of #smartmobility, improving #transportation #efficiency and regional #connectivity. 🚦 With an investment of 80 million euros and the creation of 488 jobs, Route 25 drives research into disruptive solutions for autonomous, intelligent, interoperable and inclusive mobility. Among its features, we can highlight: #autonomousvehicles, real-time #trafficmanagement and #mobileapplications for detailed traffic information. ❓ Route 25 will seek to answer some important questions: How can Portugal adapt to stay relevant in the mobility industry? What is Portugal’s role in the European and global mobility? Where do we place Portugal’s mobility in the near future? Will Portugal’s industry be disrupted, or will it be part of the revolution? If we are able to resolve these issues, this collaborative project will be a milestone in the present and future of land transportation in #Portugal. ✅ #AVs #trafficmanagement #mobileapps #sustainablemobility #autonomousmobility #intelligentmobility 🔗 Learn more about Route 25 and take a look at its technical sheet ⬇

#usercentricdesign concepts can revolutionize cities, particularly concerning connected #AutonomousMobility and #ClimateNeutrality . 🚀 Eva Boo and Esti Sanvicente were in #Madrid this week to kick off an amazing project #MobilitiesforEU that will implement 23 highly innovative demonstration interventions in 11 pilot sites, combining electrification, automation and connectivity in Madrid and #Dresden 🚌 👉 Autonomous vehicles, innovative charging infrastructures, green fuels, electric buses and H2 vehicles, advanced connectivity infrastructures, and 5G and 6G for connected and autonomous contribution are some of the interventions that will be implemented in both cities over the 5-year duration of the project. 👉 All these actions will be integrated in “Urban Transport Labs” that @WeRightClick will set up and coordinate. ⁉️ Their aim? 🚀Boost replication in the project’s follower cities Ioannina (Greece), Trenčin (Slovakia), Espoo (Finland), Gdansk (Poland) and Sarajevo (Bosnia). They will follow the path set by Madrid and Dresden, first as direct participants of these 2 leading cities and, in parallel, through their own UT-Labs.

What’s the future of #UrbanMobility? It’s autonomous, sustainable, and happening right now! Just attended the final event of the SHOW project, a fantastic culmination of the project driving #AutonomousMobility across Europe! Here’s what stood out: 1. Key Challenges & Opportunities: - Strategic coordination with existing infrastructure - Public acceptance of autonomous vehicles Public-private partnerships and #StakeholderEngagement are critical to making this a success! 2. Exciting Pilot Projects: Cities like Tampere, Finland, are already testing #AutonomousShuttles, exploring remote operation systems, and gathering real-world data on safety and efficiency. 3. What Cities Should Do: - Integrate Connected and Automated Mobility (#CAM) into Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (#SUMP) - Prioritize inclusivity and foster collaboration across sectors 4. Regulation & Societal Impact: Safety and clear regulations will be crucial as we roll out autonomous vehicles. These innovations will reshape public spaces, enhance jobs, and elevate user satisfaction. While the path to full-scale implementation of CAM is gradual, collaboration – both local and international – is the key to unlocking its potential. #SHOWFinalEvent #AutonomousVehicles #UrbanMobility #SmartCities #Innovation #SustainableTransport #PublicTransport #H2020Project

Our latest paper explores the shared autonomous electric taxis (SAET) system, focusing on routing and scheduling autonomous electric vehicles for reservation-based shared ride services. We introduce a mixed-integer linear program model, framed as a vehicle routing problem with satellite facilities (VRPSF), incorporating time and capacity constraints. The goal is to minimize total operating costs, including vehicle miles and fleet size. The model tracks vehicle numbers in parking facilities to avoid exceeding capacity. We developed a solution method using an adaptive large neighborhood search algorithm, considering parking choices. Numerical experiments, including a real-world case study in Hangzhou, China, show that ride-sharing and parking facilities can significantly reduce energy consumption and operating costs for SAET operators. In collaboraiton with Prof. Yanfeng Ouyang (UIUC) and Prof. Xiqun (Michael) Chen (Zhejiang University), and our PhD students Qinru Hu and Shiyu Shen. #TSELab #ZJU-UIUC_JointResearchCenter #SharedMobility #ElectricVehicles #RoutingAndScheduling #Ridesharing #US #China Access via the link below: https://lnkd.in/eY5BxHEi

Great news for MIRA and P3 Mobility! Interesting to see P3's success in raising funding in a tough market after Arrival, Vivian, Volta and others all tanked. The thing is, is it enough? Giving automotive technology pathfinder companies not quite enough is nearly as bad as not funding them at all. Established volume car companies routinely schedule $1Bn for a new model. A start up company has to deliver a new model, new facilities, new processes and grow the personnel and supplier base, and build a brand plus distribution network. Disruptors can achieve great things, but if its done on a shoestring, somewhere in that delicate value chain will be a failure waiting to happen. Maybe start ups need to collaborate to avoid spending limited funds on bread and butter "me too" technology so they can truly focus resources on the WOW? At Embed we aim to help small companies do this, ask me or Ivan Wilson how.
