On February 20th, we celebrate National Love Your Pet Day, a day to embrace one special trait that makes us human: our love of our pets! There are many things that differentiate humans from the rest of the Animal Kingdom, but one of the more unusual behaviours is our longstanding tendency to keep other animals as pets. According to a UK Pet Food report, 16.2 million (57%) of UK households reported owning a pet in January 2023, accounting for about 38 million pets total throughout the country. It only makes sense to commemorate something that’s so important to so many people, so on February 20th, we celebrate our pets with #NationalLoveYourPetDay! #Pets have been a part of human life for thousands of years. Ever since we’ve made our first steps into civilisation, animals have been right there alongside us. And look at those faces! Who could blame us? Nobody really knows exactly what animal the very first pet was. But, one animal, the wolf, lived alongside early humans for centuries. Even as far back as 12,000 years ago, dogs and cats were buried in their human counterparts’ graves. It seems that even early humans had a deep attachment to their furry friends. Whether #Cats, #Dogs, #Birds, or even #Spiders, lets celebrate our furry/feathered friends and shower them with love and affection on this day! Founder and CEO at Street Paws. Empowering homeless people to ensure that pets are not left behind in the fight against homelessness
Imagine being asked to choose between your best friend, and a bed for the night. Imagine having to refuse medical care because there is no one to care for your pet. Imagine having no fixed abode so no registered vet, and your animal is sick and needs care. Street paws works to help maintain the bond between humans and their pets by working to ensure being homeless does not mean leaving your pet behind in order to get ahead in life. On this, International Homeless Animal Day, can you help us to keep doing our work? A one off payment could mean we can offer vet treatment for a sick animal. A regular payment could help our Dog Champion’s Scheme, supporting accommodation for homeless people to become pet friendly so people do not need to choose between a dog for the night, and their pets. Or can you offer corporate sponsorship to sponsor a new dog champion hostel to help us expand Thank you for any help you can give to Street Paws!
🐾🌍 Today is International Homeless Animal Day! 🌍🐾 Join us in celebrating the bond between homeless individuals and their beloved pets. At Street Paws, we believe every pet deserves love and care, regardless of their owner's circumstances. Did you know many homeless pet owners make incredible sacrifices to keep their furry friends safe and healthy? These pets provide comfort, companionship, and a sense of normalcy in challenging times. ✨ This International Homeless Animal Day, let's: Raise Awareness about the unique challenges faced by homeless pet owners. Show Compassion by supporting initiatives that provide food, shelter, and medical care for these pets. Donate to help us continue our mission to support these special bonds. 🐶🐱 Every little bit helps! Share this post, spread the word, and consider making a donation today. Let's make a difference together. ❤️ https://lnkd.in/gz3jUZDy Link in bio

If you want to give a gift that’s Easter-bunny themed but won’t put animals at risk of harm, consider: Donating to a small animal charity! There are many groups working to protect and re-home small domestic animals like rabbits. A donation to one in someone’s honour can be a beautiful gift that keeps giving. Volunteering! Between humane societies, wildlife rehabilitators, and small-animal rescues, there’s no shortage of places needing help. Give some of your time with a loved one to help animals directly this way. Chocolates or candies! A gift of rabbit-shaped or themed (and plant-based) chocolate or candy is another fun way to enjoy the season and provide joy without putting animals at risk. If you are STILL interested in adding a rabbit to your family, please look up a local rescue who can ensure you have the best possible information to give your new family member a great and long-lasting life!

Exposing Cruelty and Deception: Hold Animal Farms Accountable! Donate today and support our campaign to defend chickens and other farmed animals from the horrific cruelty, deceptive practices, and unsafe conditions at places like Pitman Farms. With your support, we can push for accountability under California's animal cruelty laws, halt facility expansions that perpetuate abuse, and prevent further public health risks, including the spread of bird flu. Your gift will amplify our ability to demand justice, protect animals from unimaginable suffering, and stand up against exploitative industries profiting off cruelty. Together, we can end this abuse. https://lnkd.in/ew42iThV

As wedding and graduation season approaches, we know that dove releases are planned for many events. Would we release a bunch of domestic cats far from home for entertainment and see if they make it home? We're unsure why it's ok to do that for pigeons and doves, when we wouldn't do it for any other domestic animal. The truth is - ceremonial dove releases are cruel. Happiness for these birds is having shelter, protection from predators, food, their flock. We take that away from them when they are released for show. Don't support dove/pigeon releases. We don't do it for dogs, cats, pigs, cattle, etc, so why would we do it for any other domestic animal? Oakrock.org #nonprofit #charity #animalrescue #farmanimals
