Ever thought about traveling to learn about the future? Not the your future, but the planet's future? [well it could also be your future :)] So, we were pitching this idea for a project to ASEAN Foundation and got asked, "What problem are you trying to solve?" Let's just say tourism is stuck in a weird spot. It's bad for the planet, but it's also super vulnerable to climate change. It's like being caught between a rock and a hard place. At Bumi Journey, we've been pondering this idea lately. I've seen how climate change is messing with places in Indonesia. It's a big deal, and it's getting worse. And guess what? A recent study says Indonesia is HOME to the most climate change deniers in the world. So, what if we created tours that were all about climate change? Imagine exploring a place and learning about its possible futures. It'd be like living in a sci-fi movie! We hear a lot about climate change, but do we really get it? A short tour could be a game-changer, especially for people who aren't usually into this stuff. It's a chance to experience conservation firsthand and form your own opinions. For our project, we wanted to get school kids involved. They're the future tourists, right? So, we developed a fun adventure tour and game called "Race to Net Zero: School Edition". Thanks to Faiz Karim and team who started this game back in the day. But here's the thing: the tour isn't only about climate change. Let me quote what Bumi Journey's founder, Jessica Novia, always says, "It's about reconnecting people with nature. When we do that, we become more mindful and responsible." Grateful that Bumi Journey is named as one of the winners among hundreds of remarkable social enterprises in ASEAN. Here's to making a positive impact with Bumi Journey team!
