𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 we recently conducted a Safety Leadership Interaction (SLI) at the mining mobile equipment assembly pad, led by our Part Sale Support Officer. This experience highlighted several key practices that can significantly enhance workplace Safety. 1. 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: Ensure leaders at all levels are actively involved in safety practices. Their participation reinforces the importance of safety across the organization. 2. 𝙀𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: Foster open communication across departments. Engaging various roles in safety discussions helps in identifying a wider range of potential hazards. 3. 𝙁𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙨: An extra pair of eyes can be invaluable. Encourage cross-functional involvement to uncover hazards that may be overlooked by those who are regularly in the area. 4. 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩: Use insights from diverse perspectives to continuously improve safety protocols. Regularly updating and refining safety measures keeps the workplace safe and resilient. Even the most dangerous jobs can be done safely. It takes leaders to step up and ensure work doesn't start until we have a safe plan and all the tools and equipment for success. During the work, we can't be afraid to "stop" when things change or something unsafe is occurring. Stay Focused, Be your Brothers Keeper, and Speak Up for Safety. #safety #safetyleadership #SafeBehaviors #change

Mission first – safety always Safety and safety management is perceived as an important issue in organizations and is communicated clearly to the outside world. Still, something sets safety apart: it is seen as a separate issue somehow, not as something that should be present in daily management and leadership. This is largely due to the fact that safety management, with its strong influence on safety culture, has not been clearly structured and described. With their “Model of Modern Safety Culture” Anssi Juutilainen and Mikko Hietanen comprehensively describe, how safety management should be organized. Read the chapter in "Change That Works" or reach out to the authors. https://lnkd.in/gJ9anJ_i #ICG #yourpartnerinchange #changethatworks #safety

As a Safety Manager, your role is not to strong arm people into compliance, rather to understand the reasons behind non-compliance and encourage better behaviour. Excerpt from a book by Dale Carnegie - How to win friends and influence people.

As we conclude Construction Safety Week, we heard from our Construction Safety Manager, Pedro! Pedro understands that the safety of our team embodies our guiding principles, particularly our belief that people matter. “A great safety leader invests in their team’s growth and well-being, knowing that the strongest teams are built on trust, development, and shared commitment to keeping each other safe.” #ConstructionSafetyWeek #SafetyWeek #EASSafety #ValueEveryVoice

If you’re running multiple project or site locations and are managing your HSE programs from an office, it’s nigh impossible to ensure the consistent application of those programs in the field from a boots-on-the-ground perspective. Continual presence and enforcement are required in order for your programs to be effective. Do your most battle-tried generals lead from the front or the war room? Consider instead, creating an HSE field leadership or field marshall position, which has the aim and focus of high-risk field operations as they occur in real-time. This role should be marshalling and championing your programs in order that opportunity-cost doesn’t leave risk untreated. If you separate the administrative and reporting functions from this role, you’ll be left with field leadership that can lead from the front and has the capacity for ensuring technical precision and accuracy with near perfect execution. #leadership #fieldoperations #majorprojects #projectmanagement #infrastructure #construction #mentor #engineering #occupationalhealthandsafety
