This is an eye-opening statistic: only about half of employers feel they are effectively managing #healthcare and #prescriptiondrugcosts. What isn't surprising is that high-cost specialty drugs including GLP-1s are a significant contributor. That drug class now accounts for more than $32 billion in annual spend. In 2023, @RxBenefits implemented a new process for GLP-1 prescription reviews that in the first half of 2024 alone saved clients more than $41 million. Our human-led review process includes independent pharmacists who ensure that there is an actual diagnosis for diabetes for any patient prescribed a GLP-1 and we found that in 48% of instances, this was not the case. #highcostdrugs #drugflation
