Congrats, Ayan Zhumekenov on your first paper in #JACS https://lnkd.in/gft9SNuH and great job in synthesizing these new #perovskite-solvent materials ! Thanks Prof. Nripan Mathews for letting me explore their #thermochromic properties - something I’ve been eager to explore in recent years. It was fascinating to see 1. How quickly (~10 sec) solvent diffuses in micrometer-sized #3Dperovskite crystals in powder form, similar time in thin films of nanometer grain size, to form #2Dperovskite at room temperature. 2. The excellent purity of 2D phases at different quantum well thicknesses and their ability to switch between them. 3. How it simplified the steps from our previous study (on #photochromism, #ACSNano https://lnkd.in/gY6USRpX ). Now, by simply mixing perovskite and solvent (ink formulation) between two glass sheets, they can be used in aesthetically pleasing #smartwindows.
My first paper in JACS is out now! Happy to share our findings on solvent-templated 2D perovskites. Huge thanks and congratulations to our fantastic team! https://lnkd.in/g2eAuK7p

Tip speed is one of the prime factor which is considered during scale up. A simple term to define tip speed is the velocity of the tip of an impeller. The significance of this lies in shear forces and mixing efficiency. Too little tip speed causes inefficient mixing, whereas too much causes shear stress. The exact value varies from cell line to cell line. We can get some back of the envelope values for microbial culture the value is 3–6 m/s whereas for cell culture this value is 1–2 m/s. Often calculation is considered as jargon and most biologists would like avoid the same. To calculate tip speed, I prefer using the following website. Please make sure you measure Impeller Diameter using Vernier Calliper and keep it handy. https://lnkd.in/dRnuXVXR For more such practical tips please do follow and share. Excited to share our recent publication, "Flow of Wormlike Micellar Solutions Over Concavities," in Soft Matter! Our work explores the flow behavior of viscoelastic, shear-banding wormlike micellar (WLM) solutions over various concave geometries using both numerical simulations and experiments. We discovered a key transition between two distinct flow regimes: from large-scale recirculations in "cavity flow" to confined vortices in "expansion–contraction flow." These findings are crucial for industries working with complex fluids, providing deeper insights into flow dynamics and micellar structure evolution. 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐂-3𝐃, an automated tool and webserver to mine and rationalize protein-protein interface information for a given protein 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐂-3𝐃 was developed by the Bonvin lab. For a given protein, 1️⃣ 𝐀𝐑𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐂-3𝐃 retrieves existing interface information from the PDBe-graph database, and 2️⃣ then applies hierarchical clustering on calculated similarity values of interfaces projected on the protein structure. The authors also showed that, information generated by ARCTIC-3D can be used as input docking restraints to docking methods like HADDOCK (also from Bonvin Lab), and similar to AlphaLink and ColabDock (both using experimental restraints), to drive protein complex modeling with results comparable to predictions by AF-Multimer.
